My husband is a pizza junkie and I have probably hit every pizza joint downtown to grab him a slice. He wanted pizza for lunch today. I didn't want to grab him a slice that was previously made and reheated so I stopped into Casanova Pizzeria today.

To get to this joint is probably easy but with all the road construction going on, it was a pain to get to today. I finally made it in and I'm happy they have designated parking for their guests. I probably would have left if there wasn't parking.

They do have two points of entry, one for dine in and take out. Made my way in and saw how pretty this venue is. I love the big windows and the brightness of the place. It's very spacious with very pretty light fixtures. There was a menu at the register and checked it out while I waited for someone to help me. To be honest, I waited for a hot minute there. It wasn't till another guest that had a pick up order that showed up when the waitress greeted me.

I ordered a small pizza with half marinara and half Alfredo sauce with extra cheese for my husband. I was told 20 minutes would be the wait time so I made my way to the gas station across the street real quick to kill some. Made my way back and hung out for about 10 minutes. My pizza was ready in a pretty white box stamped Casanova on it. I looked at it to make sure it was all good and made my way to my husband.

The pizza was pipping hot! The crust was golden with some char spots on it. The cheese was beautifully melted in the middle. It was a beautiful pie. I had a small slice cause why wouldn't I? The cheese had a great cheese pull. The slice was thin nad had a nice layer of sauce. The mix of the sauces were perfect! The crust was crusty on the outside but soft and airy in the middle. What I appreciated the most about this pizza is that there wasn't a huge crust to it. You got pieces with minimal crust so you're getting to enjoy all the goodness of the sauce and cheese.

This joint is legit good. It's not the cheapest pizza but you are definitely getting your money's worth. I don't know when we will be back but if it's soon it will definitely be a date night spot for us. I look forward to eating another pie and trying one of...

Neapolitan pizza is not supposed to be casserole. The thin crust does not support piling on toppings in layers like a deep dish - the toppings don't cook correctly, the crust doesn't cook correctly, you end up with soggy middles and pizza you have to eat with a fork. Our pizza had no structure at all, it flopped straight down 90 degrees and dumped all of the toppings if you tried to eat it like pizza. The Comet also was served with big handfuls of raw garlic - I love garlic, but it has to be cut small enough to cook, and these were big raw chunks. Nothing really got cooked correctly - the Basque was swimming in pepper water, the Comet ingredients were very undercooked, the Capricciosa might as well have been a salad.

This is unfortunate, because the ingredients themselves seemed good quality, the recipes were inventive. The dough seemed good from the chew on the crust, and the outer crust had a nice char on it, but it was soaked wherever toppings were. This doesn't seem like a "recipe" problem, it seems like a kitchen problem - they just need to have a lighter touch with ingredients and cut them to size to actually get cooked in the right amount of time.

Our server was delightful, the dining area had a clean, modern look to it, with an enjoyable "vibe". You go to a pizzeria for the pizza, though, and it's going to be a while before I give Casanova...

Still the best pizza in Boise (by far) and I will continue coming back. However- and this was the first time this has ever happened- I have a big pet peeve about an incident during a recent dinner there. At the end of the meal, we had our credit card out on the table prior to receiving the bill. The server asked if he could take the card and run it. We said yes and he returned with a receipt to sign but no itemized bill. Not cool to just charge to a credit card with no explanation of costs. A restaurant should ALWAYS provide the customer with an itemized bill. Period. In this case, the final amount seemed very high. After returning home, I went to the website and added up the food and drink we ordered, added sales tax, and as far as I can tell, we were overcharged. Of course, there is no way to be 100% sure, because the server never provided an itemized explanation of charges. Although the overcharge was only a few dollars, I hope the restaurant management reminds the staff to not forget the normal courtesies that one expects- especially at these prices. Casanova’s remains my favorite pizza restaurant in Boise but I’m not too happy about this particular...

First time visit. Casanova Pizzeria was a recommendation from a local Facebook group. Spending my early years growing up on the east coast in NY and NJ, I knew what good pizza is supposed to taste like. This little pizzeria does it right! For Antipasti we had the Pagniotelli. A puffed bread with olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar. Wholly cow! The look on my face when this gigantic piece of bread showed up at the table. See pic! Absolutely tasty! We then shared a small white pie combo. The Idahoan and the Garlic chicken half n half. The crust is to die for! Just the right amount of char and oven taste with the soft but crispy texture. The flavors from both pies together was amazingly flavorful. Next time we are going half n half a tomato base pie. We will return!

Diamond in the Rough Pros: - Great pizza and sandwiches (get the meatball!) - Very fair prices - if you’re indecisive like me, they let you order half and half pizzas to try out the menu - traditional and eclectic pizzas. Medusa and good ole margarita are my favorite. Family owned with personable staff - The owner is always here, checking on customers, engaging, etc. Love the bar seating for “Cheers” feeling or dining single but has plenty of booths/tables for family, friends or networking events. Con’s: I honestly don’t have one. Their location I think hurts the business bc it’s not downtown but it’s MINUTES from downtown and perfect for West End. Great food, people and prices.
