TOURISTS AND LOCALS WARNING---DO NOT SHOP HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SICK!! We have spoke to many locals who say they do not shop here because the food is bad and the store is not clean at all. We bought a steak there and myself, my wife and my cat got really sick. My cat was even hospitalized!! We ran blood tests and they came back as gastrointestinal and dehydration from the severe vomiting and diarrhea. The vet even wrote a letter saying that it is a high probability of contaminated meat. We eat very clean foods and our cat eats very clean as well and doesn't go outside, so we know this illness came from the steak we ate and fed to her.
I called the manager, Linda and told her about it and he answer was, "Well, what do you want me to do about it..nobody else has called and said they were sick." Do they need it to be an epidemic before they will do anything about it???? I said, "Isn't there a protocol when someone calls and says they got sick?" She said, "I don't know, why don't you call the owner next week." There was zero concern for the current health and safety of their customers. I went into the market today and spoke with who I believe is the Owner, Dianna and she said "Call my insurance company and file a report." NEVER did they say they would check any of the meat or do anything to protect it's customers.
If you look around the store it is disgusting! Locals say they go off the hill to shop and us tourists don't know any better and that is why I warn you. Beware if you shop there and don't feed anything to your animals, as they don't have as strong of stomachs as you do and can die from eating bad food.
It is up to us as consumers to assure that stores like this are held to a higher standard and accountable for their...
Read moreThis is the only grocery store closest to me. It's 15 minutes away because I'm in a remote area, so I would go regularly. But now I am avoiding the store. The berries are all usually moldy or at least bruised. Most do not look fresh nearly every time I go. The produce tastes funny, like a red onion I got tasted old even though it looked okay. The multiple organic avocados I got were unusable. Very stringy and no taste to it. A regular size container of organic mushrooms is $9. Cereals are expensive, over $5 for most boxes I've seen. A large box of Cocoa puffs is $11. The store looks and smells dirty. A lot of boxes of ice cream every time I go are damaged or opened. I saw a 5+ month old expired ice cream in the freezer. I threw away most of my produce to go to stater brothers down the hill and get better produce. They don't carry certain common spices for example dried cilantro. My last experience there, the cashier didn't offer me bags or ask if I needed any. I got all the way to my car with the baby and had put him in his seat before I realized I needed bags. I went back inside and asked for bags, telling the same cashier I wasn't offered any so other people might hear too. She gave me 2 bags when i had a cart full of groceries as well as moved really slow. There's also been construction in front of the store the last few times I went making the parking lot a mess and noisy for my baby. I think they might need better vendors because options are very slim as well as overpriced and the customer service isn't that great. The store also smells odd which isn't great when you're selling food. I'm choosing to drive further to get better groceries and pay less and not feel so drained after shopping or throwing away...
Read moreI love this store! We moved up here late last year and I feel every week they are always making improvements! The produce usually looks really fresh, Of course after a rush it gets a little picked over. But they're being so good at being in good stock of everything. The prices are very fair, on big and small brands. They also have weekly deals that are worth looking out for. But my biggest appreciation has to be the staff. They're all so nice and open to having conversations about the weather or what have you. But they actually listen! A month or so I asked about what seasons they carry brisket. I talked to one of the butchers and he said they don't carry it very often, especially during winter and spring, but he'd talk to the manager about it. Being used to city service I assumed it would be forgotten. But a couple weeks later I went to do my usual grocery shopping. And they had it! I was so impressed by their willingness to listen to people. Sure they don't have all the fancy organic brands. But the environment and customer service make all the difference. Great staff and...
