This park has a lot to offer. From various baseball/softball fields, bleachers, benches, playground, skateboard park, recreation center, two bathroom areas, concession stand, and car charging posts. The parking has got to be the worse. Crickety looking in some areas and not enough parking stalls anywhere around the park. During games - depending which field you’re playing on- parking is minimal. You may find yourself parking across the street by the high school, houses and apartments. Best you arrive early, especially during games and special events. The park is too tight and constricted. The playground is about the only area that has good amount of space, open setting and modern playground equipment. Good park overall 👍🏼

Better than a sharp stick in the eye...no, really. Very nice skate-park. Half court basketball. Several (4?) Base/softball fields. Home to I.B. Little League. Old geezers play there on Tuesdays. Picnic area with BBQ grills and pavilion. Large building for activities. Public restrooms. Recently installed EV charging stations. Parking for all. Nearby bus stop. Large grass areas for the pets. (Keep off! the ballfields! Even IF you pick up) This park is kept clean by our city workers (thanks Jeff and others!) AND the birds that nest here! Egrets and herons plus resident Ospreys in the field lights.

Growing as an I.B. kid I was always at the Sports Park. We had the baseball and Softball fields along with the basketball courts/Roller Hockey Rink inside the main park building in my day. There was always something or someone there that we knew and anytime I got bored that was a spot I made sure I went by to see if there was something going on. Now it has evolved to something more refined and for the times but I still believe it has a great value to the community. It makes me happy to see that park hasn't been leveled and developed into more housing because that would...
