“Just one drink …only one drink” is what I typically tell my partner. I now see why we keep coming back (on occasions) to Brigantine restaurant on Seacoast drive. It’s their Margarita drink and the view of Imperial Beach. There was no other way to have it. This time, the holiday lights were lit and I was extra excited about that. We made it over to Brigantine around 5pm, on Saturday, December 9th. The place wasn’t packed at the time. Sports on TV and music was playing. We immediately got seated at the bar. Seated at our favorite spot, looking towards the beach area. The bartenders on shift were Krissy and Kat. If you want a perfect margarita - ask for Krissy. She was the person responsible for making the best tasting margarita in Imperial Beach (with a jalapeño kick). The just “one drink” proposal ended up to be 4 margaritas later. After glorifying how delicious the drinks were, we had to let Krissy know she had made them just perfect, without complaints. Trust me, there’s been many a times our margaritas had to be re-done/returned at other bars (too sour, too weak, too this, too that, too etc). Krissy, being humble that she was, did not take all the credit. She pointed out and stated that the drinks were only good because she was trained well by Kat. Let me also add, both Krissy and Kat were not only friendly but were attentive bartenders. Not only to us, but to all that were around the bar (13-15 people ). We were extremely satisfied with their service, on that note. Could not drink without any appetizers, so a Cesar salad, calamari strips and 3 oysters were added to our bar night outing. Brigantine’s Cesar salad has always been good. It had the right tasting Cesar’s dressing, but I still added extra Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of lemon to boost. The calamari strips were good the way it was. The oysters, on the other hand, were surprisingly, extra small (2” shells). They could have been a normal size to Brigantine standards but definitely not what we’re use to compared to Mexico’s size (3-4” shells). Nonetheless, oysters were tasty and consumed in no time. Dislike: the bar does not offer a selection of appetizers for bar consumers only… something for drinkers to snack on while drinking at the bar. Highly suggest a “bar food” menu We have never dined in and ate a meal at this location before but have done so at other locations in San Diego. Service has been consistently tops. Recommend 👍🏼

I am a local native and have been going to Brigantine Restaurants for years. This location however is near and dear to my IB roots. My wife went to Mar Vista and I went to Southwest Highschool. When I was a kid this area was run by a bike club which is synonymous with crime activity. Along with other food spots and breweries the Brigantine is a shining star on Seacoast Blvd. My wife and I were seated promptly and drinks came immediately. I enjoyed the Old Fashioned much I ordered another one instead of experimenting. My wife had a refreshing Cider. Good selection of mix cocktails and craft beer. If you want more variety go down the street for brews. Julian, who made us aware that most people call him (Hu-lee-ann) was super friendly and accommodating. His suggestions were right on the money. Sign of a great server is when they explain a dish and it tastes exactly as described. All dishes were seafood as this is their specialty. Seared Ahi Sashimi and Poke' Wonton Crisps. The wontons were packed with Ahi. The searing on the sashimi was perfection. Finally the Shishito Peppers were not spicy but extremely tasty. Our main dish (shared) was the Fish and Chips. The giant potato wedges were different, but a good different. The Cod was flaky and tasted fresh. I recommend visiting if you want to enjoy a nice date night or hangout around the bar with a dozen friends. Wonderful establishment and addition to the New I.B.

Family of 5 trip to the area.we did not have reservations and went on a Sunday, about 1:00 pm. We were seated right away, however by the time we left people were waiting to be seated. Service was great! Atmosphere, you almost can't get any better with being across the street from the beach yet very clean and beautiful inside. Food was ok. I am not a food snob by any means and I always make note of the best dishes I eat so here is my review on the food with photos. Food presentation was nice. Happy hour is available so I highly suggest that menu if you just want to sample items for your first trip or if you're not that hungry. 1. Appetizer Calamari- very chewy. I like my calamari kind is like a bite of good steak- I did not like it. 2. Fried Artichokes- the breading was light and were fried nicely however the artichokes were mushy. I did not like this dish. I am from the Bay Area so I know what they should taste like. 3. Nachos- they were nachos. My mom liked them. 4. Potato skins - nothing fancy, they were potato skins 5. Clam Chowder- nice flavor, creamy and thick. Not the best I've had but would order it again for sure. 6. Swordfish tacos- Tasty- would order again 7. Fish and Chips- fish was flaky and not dry. I would order this again. Fries were good. - Everyone at the table tried each item and consensus was reached by all on each dish. I would def go back to this restaurant for at least the service and Atmosphere. It's def worth a stop and you may have a difference of opinion on the food. Cheers! Oh! One last mention... parking across the street for $2.00 only!! Huge plus in my book!! And we only had to circle the block twice before a spot opened up. But it is a small lot. Maybe we were just lucky because it was St. Patrick's Day ☘️ 😊

A Perfect Taco Tuesday by the Beach! 🌮☀️🌊 I flew into San Diego today ✈️ and decided to try out a new beachside restaurant for lunch—and I’m so glad I did. It happened to be Taco Tuesday, so I went with three of their seafood tacos, and they were delicious 🐟🌮—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I didn’t care for the flour tortillas on one of the tacos because it became stale quickly, still edible, but you can tell the difference with the corn tortilla. The place had great energy 🌞 packed with people enjoying the lively vibe. There’s a large bar 🍹, plenty of booths, and both indoor and outdoor seating options, which is perfect for soaking in that coastal breeze 🌴. Even though there was some construction happening outside 🚧, it didn’t take away from the restaurant’s great ambience. There was music playing the whole time 🎶, creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive 😊. All in all, a fantastic spot to grab a bite by the beach—I would recommend it! ✅

Brigantine was a beautiful spot to dine for an evening sunset view of Imperial Beach. Each dish was full of flavor and color. Presentation was phenomenal, making it hard to not dive in before grabbing a pic. The shrimp and crab fondue was a creamy goodness starter. The Lobster Bisque looked and smelled so delightful I dove in before snapping a pic. It did not disappoint! They had a generous selection of hot teas. They offer many options for alcoholic or regular beverages as well. Our main courses were soooo tasty and cooked to perfection! We overate and didn’t have room for dessert, although we wanted some. We made a reservation for this date & were seated immediately. Recommend doing so as it’s a fairly small establishment and seating is limited at peak times. It is handicapped accessible. They have Gluten Free options as well as Gluten Free alternatives. Can’t go wrong with this lovely restaurant. We would be most happy to return if ever back in Imperial Beach.

This review is specifically for the happy hour. Love Brigantine. I have been to the Coronado location a few times. I decided to try the Imperial Beach location after learning via a promotional email (see pic) that all locations do a happy hour with $7 "small plates" on Mondays starting at 3:00 p.m. I checked the menu on their website and was excited as their Small Plates section is pretty extensive. Unfortunately, it is too good to be true. The Small Plates menu for happy hour is different and is much more limited. I have included a pic here, as it is not on the website. Brigantine should post the happy hour menu to be clear about this promotion and should change the wording in their marketing materials from "small plates" to "selected small plates" or the like, to make the differentiation clear. What is on offer for happy hour is what you would expect - in short, nothing special. Definitely not worth going out of your way for.
