Very Friendly visitor's center with a guided tour. Tour guides are Sister Missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They give a great presentation on the importance of families upstairs and then another informative presentation on a bit of Mormon pioneer history from the area. It was very peaceful in the visitor's center. It felt like a place where when you walk through the round glass revolving door, you enter a different world. The beautiful statue of the Savior is the focal point. Although not a musuem, it has some museum like features. The guided tour is essential and not invasive or over bearing. Downstairs, be sure to check out the children's discovery area, as well as a self-guided photo gallery from the early 20th century depicting many church history sites. You will leave the visitor's center feeling enlightened, rejuvenated and calm. Allow about an hour for the guided tours and perhaps 15 minutes or more for photos and self-discovery...
Read moreThis is a wonderful visitors center. The exhibits are well-crafted with key information from Missouri LDS Church History. I went by myself this time, but next time I plan to bring my children too (both under the age of 8)! The exhibit is interactive with videos to watch, a cabin to walk through, and a little children’s play area at the end. My favorite part is the Christus statue at the beginning of the tour. Would highly recommend to anyone driving through this part of Missouri! It takes about 30 minutes to go through the tour.
I’m not sure if it is a permanent installation or not, but there is also an exhibit of pictures taken by George Edward Anderson in 1907 of many significant locations from the prophet Joseph Smith’s life. This was really neat to see!
The missionary couple that oversees the center is friendly and welcoming, and the young sister missionary who took us through the tour was knowledgeable,...
Read moreI stopped here coming home from my mission with my parents and my two younger sisters. We had a great time here. It was humbling to know that we had a great time. I can't remember the while thing but it was way better than going across the street. That other place I went to had mixed feelings for me. But when I got back outside and knowing that I served a great mission.I felt so much better to know that I was raised in God's ways to live righteously. I have trials but I look back that gained a true testimony of my savior. My mission really changed me especially feeling a great attitude in the building I looked here in at the Visitor Center. It was a great opportunity to see how much I have grown. I would love to go back and see this...
