Up Dog — Restaurant in Independence

I would give ZERO if I could. I’ve gone 3 times before and the hot dogs were ok, too expensive but ok. However, the cheese fries with their homemade cheese sauce was awesome, the entire reason I went back. The wait was a bit long but I was willing to wait for the cheese fries and the cheese sauce with the hot dogs. Today however, we waited over half an hour for an order for 3 people with only one couple ahead of us and they were NOT busy. We FINALLY get just the hot dogs, they were burned on cold, hard buns. Ten minutes later we get one big basket of fries with no cheese (we ordered 2 orders of cheese fries with ALSO 3 sides of the cheese, which I specified THREE times when ordering) and 3 sides of congealed globby cheese that was ice cold. I told them this is not what we ordered, the hot dogs are burned and now cold, the cheese is ice cold and there’s no cheese sauce or shredded cheese on the fries. We got blank stares back and a lame uh this is how we do them. Nope nice try but I was there literally last night. We got no apology, very begrudged refund and wanted us to still pay for a soda we had been sipping for the 45 minute wait. We left 45 minutes after ordering- with no food, rude service and NO accountability. I will NEVER be back! Hire some actual adults who know what...

Order took around 50 minutes to receive. They had forgotten/lost our order. We weren't offered any sort of reimbursement (we didn't ask for one, but would've been appreciated). They also forgot to give us our fries.

I feel like the price of the food would've been justified if the service wasn't so poor. Chicago has places like this all over, and the pricing is competitive.

While I was there, I noticed a few things:

They bring out food to the table at different times- so one person will receive their food, but another will have to wait another few minutes.

Employees give you a bathroom key, but don't take their gloves off when giving it to you.

Employees needed to every 5 to 10 minutes leave the kitchen to get supplies in the backroom.

A lot of time was spent looking at receipts trying to figure out what was ordered, but there was no pull system for them to keep track of the order, so orders could easily be lost or been put out of order.

The staff was entirely young kids. This might not always be an issue, but to me, I find this could be a problem with management/owners not caring enough to be there themselves. But I've only been there once, so maybe it was a one time thing.

All in all, I don't think I'll be going back, but maybe if things improve, I'll check...

Highly disappointed not only that it cost me $9 for a burger with tax but I ordered the Rio burger after it was made and given to me. I was told that there was no cream cheese and no jalapenos so I got a burger with American cheese and mustard and onions. I specifically asked for no mustard. I went back in and asked the kid and he said it comes with it.... I said but I told you I didn't want it and he said but it comes on it ma'am. I was like I know that and I told you I did not want it on there, can you remake it? He said he would complete the other orders first and then we make it but I had already spent 20 of my 30 minutes of my lunch break waiting on the first Burger. UGHH!
