The splash park is nice though small. The staff and management however are very rude, combative and arrogant. A culture seemingly bred by the General Manager. Upon just arriving at the splash park with our kids, and four other families, we found a seat. I bought an alcoholic drink from the bar on site and came by to sit down and relax. (In case anyone is wondering, that was my first and only drink and my wife did not drink at all). We brought other snacks, waters and drinks for our kids and had two Yeti cups. Apparently no drinks or snacks are allowed. This was not told to us at check in and we did not see the obscurely posted sign. We were immediately rudely, verbally attacked by a young lady that was probably in her teens. My wife indicated that we did not know and that she should be allowed to keep our son hydrated. My wife asked to speak to a manager. The young lady came back with some young man that was equally as rude and stated he was acting manager. The young lady then shoves a poster with the “rules” in my wife’s face. We asked to speak to the actual manager; now, just to complain about how rude his staff was. They came back with a manager that was as smug and rude as they were. We were told that if we didn’t comply now, they would call the police. We told them to call. Seriously??? In the meantime we decided this was getting out of control and i just took our cooler back to our room. When I came back down, my wife was gone. I looked around and saw her escorted back to our seats by two police officers. The manager insisted on giving my wife a trespass warrant. I spoke to the officers, let them know that we did indeed comply. We also pointed out the scores of people in the park that quite openly were consuming food and drinks they brought in. The officers tried to talk sense into the manager until finally the manager got on the phone with the General Manager. The General Manager came out and confronted my wife, getting right in her face reprimanding her as if she was a child and embarrassing her in front of friends and other guests. First he said she could leave for an hour and after that she could come back,. At that point the GM left. The police then asked the manager that remained if he still wanted to issue the warrant. He said yes. The police explained that she would not be able to come to the park in an hour if the warrant was issued formally. The manager got on the phone with the GM, explained what the officer said and the GM said “issue it formally! “ He said they had a drowning in the pool last week and he has more important things to worry about! Really? Maybe if the staff worried more about safety issues instead of trying to ‘bust’ someone for bringing in a sippy cup for their kid, the drowning wouldn’t have happened! When asked for a refund for our family ( i was not staying with my kids without my wife), they said NO because we were there more than half hour. Yes all of that time being harassed by the staff!...
Read moreOn 05/17/17-A friend and I went to Splash Harbour water park (actually a slide and a pool) as celebrated guests granted free admission – we are medical professionals. While checking in, we were informed of the "convenience" of "lockers" to store our belongings. The price was shocking - $5, $7 or $9!!!! When I complained, I was told their pricing is comparable to other parks (assuming they were referencing parks like Disney and Bush Gardens). There were three employees at the registration desk.
We enjoyed almost all of our time at the restaurant and bar as the "park" was lack-luster at best.
Upon leaving, (around 6PM), I entered the combination for our rented locker and it did not work. All the employees associated with the park had left. No one else knew anything and stated they "...have nothing to do with them...they are a totally separate company...". My car keys and identification were in the locker as well as my friend's personal belongings. I was unable to leave.
Apparently, there is a time at which you must retrieve your belongings from the rented lockers or the lockers will no longer be accessible. The time is 6PM - yes, that is a full 2 hours before the sun sets... at a water park.
This was NEVER verbally communicated to us. We did not see any obvious signs, printed warnings on the lockers nor were there any obvious warnings in the electronic system through which we reserved and paid for the locker.
I asked the hotel staff, bar staff, restaurant staff, passing customers, managers, security staff, etc. for help - to no avail. I then became very loud yelling and repeating my requests to everyone.
About one hour after my continuous yelling, a person walked up to me and produced my belongings. I do not know why they held my property for ransom or how this person was able to find it - they offered no explanation.
The following day, I attempted unsuccessfully to reach "Splash Harbour" by phone continuously till about 2PM at which point I just started ringing the phone off the hook. Eventually a “desk manager” answered and I explained what happened. The "desk manager" instructed me that I should have seen the notice on the entrance door regarding the time frame for the lockers. He offered “free admission" to the park as resolution of my situation - my perception was total apathy.
I asked for my $5 to be refunded, I was told "all sales are final”.
It is very difficult to get away with treating people like this in person and you can rest assured I will be re-visiting "Splash Harbour" in person to get my $5 back, get the number to the locker company and to personally communicate my feelings directly – to someone’s face. I will never have anything else to do with this place. It is a crying shame they are located so closely to a local eating and drinking establishment whose reputation has the risk for being tarnished simply by association.
Splash Harbour – yea, not...
Read moreI'm just now getting around to sending this email because I wanted to sit on this for a couple days because we are so upset.
Last Sunday we went to the water park for the first time and we were so excited. We understood that we had to pay $20 to park but you could get your money back at the gate or at the Tiki bar.
We weren't even in the park 5 minutes and they close the pool due to the weather and we understood.
So we went and had breakfast which was the worst breakfast for $36, a buffet that was sad. It was just nasty and no up keep. The food was cold and no flavor. You could have had a better buffet somewhere on the beach without a doubt. So disappointed.
Me and my husband get back downstairs and the pool is still closed due to lightening. So while it is pouring rain, we sat at the tiki hut waiting out to see if the rain is going to stop. At this point I feel really sad about the amount of money I've paid and I have not even touched the water. So me and my husband decide that we're just gonna head home we only live 10 minutes away and we'll come back another day. We are told at the Tiki Hut they will happily refund our money. As we gather up our wet towels that had been sitting out in the rain, we hear a announcement the water park is lift the band for everyone to get into the water. We start looking at the radar and there's nothing but Lightning and water bands coming straight for the water park. So we still decide that we're going to leave the park. We get to the front desk and they tell me and my husband that we were 5 minutes too late to refund our money. WHAT!! at this point in time we are so furious because we never even touched the water. We've spent all this money for nothing not to mention the God awful breakfast that we had at Jimmy's. When we asked the girl at the front desk to speak to a manager she told us she was too BUSY. Being a business owner myself I could not believe the customer service we were receiving and the zero compassion about getting our money back or just refunding so that we could come back another day. It was the biggest disappointment ever from every angle.
We can go into our own pool at any time or even go to the beach but we wanted something for a change of pace. We were never so disappointed and I can tell you at this point in time if anyone was to ask for a recommendation, You're better off to drive to Tampa and Go to Adventure Island.
It has been a long time since I've ever had to complain about any kind of business in our area. We just wanted the park know that it was the amount of money we spent, for the quality that we got was just outlandish. There was zero customer service and not help from your staff.
Sincerely
Kristen Whitmer
