Let's start off with our first impression... Now being that we have been to the VIP in Treasure Island, our hopes were that the new location, being a bigger place, would be a step above... Well, we were sat and our waitress flew by and told us she would be right with us... She went past maybe 4 more times helping the tables around us but never asked for even our drink order... After 10 minutes or so, I walked up to the bar to atleast get us some drinks and was informed that I could not get service at the bar, and that our waitress would be right with us... She finally came and took our drink order so we put in our food order at the same time just to make up for the lack of attention... After she went away we got a new waiter, by the name of Micheal, pleasant young man, was very attentive from that point forward. Michael checked on us several times and made sure we had everything we wanted... Now on to the appetizer, the Mexican Pesos, which are fried jalapeno slices, are actually pretty good. Made from fresh jalapenos and crisp, not too spicy and just right. I ordered Chili Rellenos with a side of rice and beans. The Rellenos have good flavor but they are a bit greasy, may be the type of cheese that they use but are still flavorful despite being a little heavy on the salty side. As for the rice, it was tender with a slight taco seasoning taste. The refried beans on the other hand tasted just like the ones we get at walmart that came in a bag, not saying at all that there is anything wrong with that because I personally think that those beans that come in that bag are pretty dang close to authentic... Now... On to the wife's choices, and did I mention she is probably more of an expert on this subject because she is originally from El Paso and Mexican Descent, so without further wait here it goes. She ordered the Enchiladas, the flavor was, in her own words, "Alright, was not too spectacular, didn't get my taste buds dancing." And her opinions about the rice and beans were the same as mine... With this all being said, we started off with merely a 2 stars but by the end of our meal, and because of Michael's attentiveness, we are giving this visit a 4... Try VIP on Indian Rocks Beach, and with any luck, Michael will be...
Read moreThis would have been a 5 star review if the following would not of happened, 1st when the bill arrived I noticed about 6 discrepancies on the bill, I notified the server and her reply was priceless.
I personally ordered the steak 🥩 and shrimp 🍤 fajitas this meal comes with salsa and sour cream I asked the server instead of salsa 💃 can I get a extra sour cream she said yes when the bill came I had a charge for the sour cream. The extra sour cream never even came out.
I also asked if I could have tomato’s 🍅 with my fajitas 🥩 and she replied yes, when the bill came I had a charge of 2 dollars for a 2oz cup of tomato’s 🍅 and a $1.00 fee for lettuce which I didn’t even order.
Then we ordered the 3 amigo platter that comes with 3 or four different items and a small hand full of chips, we used the chips and had more then half left of the sauces, we asked if we could have more chips she replied it’s .50 cents but when the bill came it was a dollar.
And lastly when we ordered our 4 kids meals we asked if the soda was included and she said yes but when then bill came we had $16.00 dollars in kids drinks.
Also I have a $3.95 fee that just says platter that we still don’t know what was for we didn’t order a $3.95 platter.
Now for everyone who is like this guy is complaining over a couple bucks it is actually over $25 dollars in extra charges that should not have been on the bill.
And the servers response when I told her I didn’t even get the sour cream was would you like me to get a side of sour cream for you, I replied I don’t have any food to take home so a side of sour cream is kinda pointless.
All in all the food was very very very delicious, I would definitely recommend the place for its food. But because of the errors in the bill please please check your bill at check out. I will definitely try it again I just will have to take extra time to clarify all the extra charges before we order.
I do believe the kids meals are way over priced if they don’t include a drink it’s 8 dollars and 9 dollars for the kids meals $12 dollars if you...
Read moreFirst let's start with the parking... it's terrible. It took longer to find a space to park than it did to get seated, eat and leave. The food is very bland. Have you ever heard of seasoning. The salsa is very mild and very chunky. The chips are blah, no salt on tables. I ordered something that I consider to be easy to make and hard to mess up and my go to safe pick the 1st time I try a new "mexican" restaurant. The tortilla was cooked great, tbe cheese had a great pull but wasn't very good. The steak was terrible, no taste and hardly any on it. It comes with jalapenos, olives, cheese and meat. I asked for no olives and it came with just meat and cheese of 3 of the 4 pieces. I tried it how it came and it was inedible to me so I asked for sour cream, guacamole, jalapenos since there weren't any really in it. I took a couple more bites and still jist couldn't enjoy it so I boxed it with hopes of trying to save it once I got home but it was a lost cause. Kids meals were actually really good. The boys had hot dogs and they were very good. Came dry had to ask for ketchup and mustard but they only brought out ketchup. Fries were great, probably some of the best around once we added salt. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside . The server was OK. My drink was empty the entire time and it never got refilled. The lemons I got for my iced tea were slimy and gross feeling as well. My sons drink was empty too. He did get us most of the other things we asked for but it was just not a good experience and the hassle of parking mixed with everything else I just can't reccomend it to anybody and I wouldn't go back. It's definitely not...
