Indy Massage Company — Attraction in Indianapolis

Purchased an Amazon local coupon to try out Indy Massage. Due to family health issues I was unable to go during the summer as I had hoped. I was finally able to carve out a day for myself and was really looking forward to going.

I called to schedule an appointment and was informed that a 1 hour slot was available at 11:15am. That was great. I mentioned that it was an Amazon coupon and was informed that they do not take appointments on Friday for Amazon. Which I understand but explained that due to my family health I could only get in on Friday. The Amazon coupon expired on Saturday so could I please get an open for the currently open time.

Even after explaining my family health issues and problems, she told me under no circumstances would she allow me to use the coupon for the open time slot for Friday. She kept stressing to me that I had 6 months to get in and it was not her problem that the coupon was going to expire regardless of my life circumstances.

The coupon was for $75 ... in all fairness it is not worthless it is just now only worth $35. However after all the health issues ... spending the extra money on a massage is a luxury expense I cannot justify.

Part of massage in my opinion is if the person performing the massage has a good core as it is a holistic practice. Someone who refuses to allow the use of a coupon to someone just trying to get away for one day after a stressful 6 months is not someplace that could be holistic to me.

I was really looking forward to this 1 hour to get away. It is very sad to me that the company failed to show even a shred of compassion during my conversation with them. This has been a difficult year but I've been amazed at how willing area business have been wiling to work with me due to our circumstances. It was a bit of shock to one that could care less especially in a field of making people...

Online booking system is flawless.

The spa itself is beautifully decorated and very inviting. Smells fantastic, soft lighting, chilled water and a variety of teas on hand, tastefully displayed products, and an overall atmosphere of serenity. There is the soothing sound of trickling water, which I discovered is this cool fountain that you pass as you walk back to the treatment rooms.

I was warmly welcomed by the front office manager upon arrival and after my services. None of that stuffiness or the dreaded product pushing that inevitably happens when visiting other places. Which of course will be a reason for me to arrive a bit early and linger a bit browsing the products while sipping a bit of tea on my next visit :)

To say that my massage experience was pleasant is an understatement! The room was very dim and the table was very comfortable with warm blanket and pillow. Then there’s Gwen! I cannot recommend Gwen highly enough. She is warm, professional, listened to my concerns, and is an amazing, talented massage therapist. I chose the 30 minute facial/scalp massage and 60 minute Swedish massage - I haven’t been that relaxed in months. In all honesty I think she gave me the best massage of my life. I booked a second appointment immediately.

By the way, because I had so much tension and trigger points she always verified that the pressure was okay, and firmly worked through some of them. Ones I didn’t even know existed in my arms, for example. I was sure I would be sore the next day, but I was not. I just feel refreshed and happy.

I have been going here for years at both locations. I want to start by saying that the 2 ladies that own the place have always been nice and when I had a massage directly with them it was good. However, as they run the business and the other ladies I have tried that work here do the massages the results have been inconsistent. I only ran into one massage therapist that just had a nasty superficial personality. But the rest have been nice and friendly. I would also like to say rarely has a massage had to be rescheduled. The company is very organized. The problem for me has been inconsistency. I get deep tissue massages. Most of the ladies here aren't really good at these type of massages. Ones that have been good, I go back to and the next one is not good from the same therapist. I have tried every person working here trying to find a consistent good deep tissue massage and have had lackluster results. Some will start out ok, but then you can tell they get tired a little ways in and the massage just becomes light rubbing. While I understand this as giving a good massage I am sure is a good workout and I know I couldn't do it. When paying 100/hr, you expect a good massage. Whether its the lack of training in deep tissue or lack of effort or likely both I have not been able to find someone satisfactory and consistent. I am going to look elsewhere. If you are one of those people that just likes being touched lightly or very light massage. Your mileage will vary and this place is likely fine for you.
