We've dined at Bonefish many times in the past and our experiences have usually been very pleasant. We went last night for our 38th anniversary dinner and were a little disappointed.
We both ordered the same entrees - filet mignon with two sides. We enjoy wine with our meal, so I also asked for a bottle of Coppola Estates claret to be brought when our meals were served. The steaks took some time to arrive, but filet mignon is time consuming to get right, so we weren't particularly concerned at that point. When our entrees did finally arrive we waited to begin eating until the wine was brought to the table. That's just a pet peeve that we've developed over many years of dining out. Too often entrees are served and the wine selection arrives ten to fifteen minutes later, when your meals have either gone cold or you've given up waiting and eaten two thirds of your dinner.
I'm not sure why so many restaurants get this wrong. But last night we were headed in the same direction, so after five minutes, with our meals getting cold, I approached the maitre d' regarding the wine. As I returned to our table, I could see our server had by that time arrived with our bottle. I understand the staffing issues that exist currently, and I could see our server was also taking care of several other tables, one of which was a party of eight.
All this would be forgivable, I suppose, if our steaks had been up to the standard which we've come to associate with Bonefish. Unfortunately that was not the case. We had asked for filet mignon, medium. What we were served were two sirloin portions, both well done. If the restaurant did not have filet mignon last night, they should state as much. We would select something else. To pass off one cut of meat as something it is not is unforgivable.
We'll probably return at some point in the future, but I hope these customer service issues can be sorted out. I hate to have to eliminate Bonefish as a dining option.
Update: I contacted Bonefish via the method specified in their response below. They have yet to contact me after two weeks. My advice to other diners is to take notice of their customer service. There are many other...
Read moreFirst all I have to tell you the day after Valentine’s was just as special and great!! We had a new guy last night who was in training (I forgot his name) but he did very very well so great job. This was my second time going to this location. My first was the location in greenwood which was amazing but last night had the same type of experience and energy I wanted for myself and my girlfriend as we’re rekindling our relationship. From the check in with the guy with blue shirt, to the host being polite, and to our two servers it was definitely 10/10.
I literally got the same food as I did last summer which was the two appetizers (the Bang Bang Shrimp, MUSSELS JOSEPHINE, and two orders of their bread). As our entrée my love got the 7 ounce fillet-mignon, whipped potatoes, and asparagus. I had the 7 ounce sirloin and shrimp with whipped potatoes, and bacon mac & cheese..
The only two cons I would say is that the Bacon Mac & Cheese definitely needs more flavor (seasoning), actually baked in the oven and more bacon pieces throughout each bites. Make it like how a southern grandmother would do it 6/10 to be fair. (The the pesto in the oil for the bread looks phenomenal, but I am allergic to pesto thank God that I asked to serve or is that was pesto because I would’ve had an allergic reaction). Lastly the mango salsa was (MID) should definitely 100% be blended up instead of having chunks in a metal cup. How you should make it: Fresh mangos, cilantro, Creole seasoning, red hot chili flakes, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, lime, juice, lemon juice, basil, oregano, tomatoes, green onions, white onions, some pepper, and adobo That’s how you should make that mango sauce. THANK ME LATER….
Overall, the experience was still great but I hope y’all take what I said into consideration but we will definitely be back for sure.
Very...
Read moreI've been to the Bone Fish Grill in Vegas and knowing there was one in Indiana I HAD to go, especially for the Bang Bang Shrimp! (Which for now, it's no longer on special on Wednesdays in case you're waiting to go lol) my wife and I went in and were seated promptly, and we were served by WHALEN W. (Gave THE BEST service we've had post COVID - which is hard to find) and he recommended the Shrimp Rangoon with Salmon and it came with spinach and rice, BEST dish there right now and so glad he recommended it, the salmon wasn't dry, it was crusted but moist, and the Rangoon Shrimp along with the rice, spinach and sweet and sour sauce underneath brought all the flavors together! To start though we ordered calamari, Bang Bang Shrimp, and a bowl of the corn chowder & lump crab. ALL of that was amazing. My wife ordered the sirloin steak and lobster tail, the steak was juicy cooked at medium, and the lobster tail tasted so fresh. Whalen always made sure the drinks were full and truly made a date night memorable. This restaurant understands that the food and experience obviously matter, because that's what's going to bring me back!
UPDATE 6/30/22: It's been a year later and it appears our waiter from last time has moved up! So happy to see that as he's the reason why we wanted to come back to this location in the first place! This time we got the Oscar Swordfish and of course the bang bang shrimp. I will say that while the swordfish was juicy and reasonably priced, the flavor could've been better. I have to say that I've had swordfish in many places, even in the bay area in California and this place had it best. One other thing that was slightly disappointing is that the bang bang shrimp also missed the mark in flavor, although the food was off this evening it wasn't enough to knock it down to 4 stars, still love this place and...
