This used to be the spot when I was growing up...but ever since Simon Malls sold the place ,, it's been going downhill ever since . I bought my first pair of sneakers from Lafayette Square , bought my first fitted hat . Had my first date at Lafayette Square && had bought my first pair of designer jeans at Lafayette . The first time I ever had a Cinnabon was at Lafayette Square && I bought my first grills from here . Lafayette holds a lot of memories for me...so to see what it's turned into is a sad sight to see . It's pretty much turned into a flea market with a handful of stores that I would never shop at . I keep hearing that there's new developments on the way...but it seems like I've been hearing that for almost a decade at this point && whoever the current owner is STILL hasn't done anything to move the needle with this mall .
I heard from a former employee that used to work security for the mall that the current owner also owns The Alamo Brewhouse across the street . I'm not sure if that's the truth or if they were just bumping their gums...but if that's the case ,, that explains why The Alamo is charging an arm && a leg for a movie ticket , a cup of water and some chicken fingers . They're probably bleeding money trying to keep Lafayette afloat . At this point...they're better off just demolishing the mall and leveling the place . Then build something else entirely or rebuild the mall with a new && improved revamped look that'll attract consumers . There's a BUNCH of people who wished there was still a mall on this side of town . Who wants to drive 30-mins in another direction to get to a mall when Lafayette is a 10min or less drive from everybody on the west side of town . Hopefully the owner sees this && does something...because it's getting ridiculous at this point . If you don't have the funds to fix the building or rebuild it from scratch ,, then sell it to somebody who's capable of the...
Read moreDefinitely DO NOT go here, unless you want to show your worst acquaintances/ghetto rats the slummiest mall(even Washington Square is an improvement) in Indianapolis. Needs to be torn down and/or started over from scratch again. However, if you like athletic shoes, a sketchy Shoppers World and a dirty, run down Burlington Coat Factory, by all means head that way! This "mall" features unknown gaudy businesses like cheap jewelry stores, a really tired exercise facility, and cellphones galore, and interesting clothing shops. If you dislike your mother in law, and you're not her favorite in law, taking her here will definitely get the divorce proceedings started immediately. Please pass on this place unless you...
Read moreHaving been a westsider nearly 50 years I was fortunate enough to see this mall built and enjoy shopping at Blocks, L S Ayres, Sears, J C Penney, Lazarus, G C Murphys as well as a vast number and variety of smaller retailers offering high end shoes, pianos, a theatre, an MCL restaurant. Never had to worry about rapes, robbery, and 2 legged animals/thugs lingering inside and outside the Mall like now. All the desired retailers have left long ago for greener pastures outside Indpls. and shoppers that spend money followed instead of dealing with hoards of smart ass, violent teens roaming the mall harassing people. Time to close the place and raze it. Chase the cockroaches off to...
