Pennsy Trail I started at the trailhead off of County Rd 700 east of Cumberland and headed west. The trail parallels US 40 and is at times wooded, but very straight. The good news, it’s far enough away from the highway that I couldn’t hear the traffic noise and the asphalt surface is smooth. The bad news is unfortunately the closer I got to Indy the trail trash increased. That’s a real shame because the trail has a lot of potential if better maintained. Overall I gave it 2 stars out of 5 because of the trash. I did discover the “Buck Creek” trail that runs north off of the Pennsy east of Cumberland. Read moreThe Pennsy Trail goes from the Trailhead in Irvington all the way to Cumberland (with another stretch in Greenfield) passing by some nice residential areas, beautiful scenery and a few questionable areas alongside an abandoned strip mall between Arlington and Kitley. More benches have been installed and some natural growth gardens have also been added.
Pro Tip For a nice walk, start near Strangebird in Irvington and walk to the bridge over Shadeland. Going and coming back will take 40 minutes to an hour depending on your pace. Bring a snack and pull up a bench for a mini-picnic if you are into that...
