Came back through there a few days ago after a trip to Canada. Not the best experience but I'm sure it could have gone worse. I was a first timer and I picked a lane with a car in front being inspected before seeing that the lane to my left was clear. One of the officers directed me towards the adjacent lane and I made the mistake of trying to position myself in that lane by driving forward past the stop line and to the left. He then angrily told me to back up and go around repeatedly and I quickly realized my mistake and reversed when he said it the first time. I understand I made a mistake and that's on me, but I think it could have been handled better by the officer. I do apologize for any danger my first attempted maneuver may have posed and it was an honest mistake. I learned a hard lesson that I won't forget. Beyond that, the other officer who questioned me and examined my passport was nice enough and just doing her job. I was grateful to be on my way without a search. Definitely got a more friendly vibe from Canadian customs a few days earlier going into Canada. If I could advise my past self or any other first timer I would say do not go past the stop lines for any reason or for any amount of time until the car in front has...
Read moreBorder agent was extremely rude and suspicious. I flew into International Falls so I could be as close to were I was visiting in Canada as possible. (Flying into Winnipeg would have been a six hour drive and flying into Thunder Bay would have been an additional 8 hours of travel). When coming back into the US the agent was rude from the moment he asked where I live. When I answered everything went down hill from there. Frankly I don't think it matters where a US citizen crosses the border into the country when they have all the required documentation. He was especially rude when it came to me having a rental car from the International Falls Airport, told me "where's the rental agreement and you better pray it has your name on it". I don't understand why he was being rude and hostile. Seems lots of people have complaints about about this crossing going from Canada...

After that one of the officers escort me to the room and they drove my car away. Probably after 10-15 min one of the officers comes back and ask me how to open the hood so i advise him he need to pull handle twice ( this is the only difference in my car) and then he ask were is the handle after this question my feeling was something is not rights here but i tell him its in the usual spot under the dashboard. 5 minutes after that he escort me to my car and I drove away just to find out that 9 GIFT CARDS ($500.00) magickly disappear. I hope this massage reach higher management and no more MAGIC happening at this...
