Great variety of classes and instructors. Felt welcome as a beginner and the mood of the place is super calming. My lower rating is specifically due to the size of the place, pricing, and no free parking. The Iowa City location is smaller compared to the Coralville one, and I didn’t like that as it can get cramped when the class is full. A bit pricey considering there is no free parking for the Iowa City location. Also, I didn’t like the fact that the monthly unlimited option requires a 4-month minimum commitment, and that the 10-class pass is more expensive compared to the unlimited class option. Seems like it’s set-up this way to attract a certain class of people.
Editing my review in reply to the owner: Really appreciate the time you took to reply to my review. I removed my remark about the later class times, and I apologize for the mistake as I confused my review for the Coralville location schedule with the Iowa City location schedule. In my Coralville review, I mentioned that I liked the class times at the Iowa City location more, but preferred the Coralville location studio set-up and convenience of parking.
Regarding parking, I’m aware of the parking option across the street that is cheaper than meter parking. However, considering classes are at least an hour and having to be in the studio before the doors are locked, parking will always be above an hour and that is an additional cost that is considered by many customers.
My comment about the monthly unlimited pass was about it having to be a 4-month minimum commitment. I personally think you’d get more buy in if it was an unlimited monthly pass that does not require a commitment of a certain length. Lastly, while the 10-class pass may benefit those traveling from out of town, it could also benefit those who only want to commit to two classes a week if it was cheaper then the unlimited monthly...
Read moreUnfortunately, my review will be fairly in line with the other two reviews however, my key takeaway is that this business needs some serious ventillation work. I've sampled several hot pilates and yoga joints and never have I experienced one that was so humid and mildew-y rather than dry and hot. I would call Humid Yoga and not Hot Yoga. The towels we rented also smelled of mildew. I'm curious if they have a dehumidifier in use and mold issues? : /
The location is fantastic - right around the corner from the Pedestrian Mall and their intro pack of an unlimited month for $49 is really reasonable. I enjoyed our pilates instructor's methods but in all honesty my focus was on the smell and vibe of the room . I also felt that as a new student they weren't super welcoming and didn't offer...
Read moreI attended my first ever "Yin Healing Music" class with Katie G. Saturday afternoon. She was just fantastic! Really gifted. I would have never imagined I could be lulled into such a state of total relaxation in my favorite HHY studio. It was crowded, but not overly so. I was in the last row with two men and one man in front of me. Katie's slow and steady ritual led everyone into a wonderful relaxing sedated state. And then the men started snoring. I was startled awake 5 -6 times during the last 20 minutes by their consecutive horribly loud snoring. . . As I told my husband later: I can have this opportunity any night at home for free. Might it be possible to hand out some "Breath Right" strips for folks at future classes? ...
