IF YOU'RE NEW TO IOWA CITY OR ON A BUDGET: Go on Amazon and buy a highly-reviewed mattress for under $250!! At least buy from a store with a return policy! (This is the norm for reputable mattress retailers). This franchise is NOT a good option for you. Mattress by Appointment (MBA) brand mattresses are of very low quality and HEAVILY marked up, relying on astroturfing and a sales pitch to make money.
You WILL overpay if you buy a mattress here like I did. You'll realize that people who bought a bed-in-a-box online or at a known store got a FAR more comfortable bed for hundreds less than you paid.
Do not fall for the claims/taglines that you're getting a great deal; there's a reason that the price of Mattress By Appointment brand mattresses aren't listed online. The business model is to draw you in and sell you on a pretty clever, low pressure pitch and end up buying a mattress for far more than it's worth.
I spent $500 (a good, discounted deal, I was told) for a 10 inch spring bed that I could feel the slats of my bed frame through, and I weigh less than 175lbs. My friends bought thick, five-star memory foam mattresses for $200-$300 online tops that have held together comfortably for years.
Be smarter than I was. If a business has this many red flags (similar formulaic reviews all around the same time period; marked-up, low quality products; no-credit financing for expensive items, no returns) then you...
Read moreFor False advertisement and although she was nice and pleasant; the situation due to false advertisement I gave 2 stars. I went in with my daughter to get a King Size bed. From the description on FB she had king size beds for $275 I never saw those priced beds. I told her that I was looking for a king size and that I was willing to spend $450 because the $1390 bed she was showing me was just absurd. I was never shown the king size beds for $275 or close to that piece AT ALL. I was show. $1300 king beds. $700 king beds. $600 king beds. If there are beds for $275 she doesnât show you and they are not advertised on the floor as they should be. You walk in and donât see prices anywhere but on one or two beds. so I gave two stars because I got my king size bed but it was clearly false advertisement going on. It was after I left that I felt like the fool. I was told there was $275 king size beds but walked out paying $800. Yeah ! She got me ! I was so in need of a bed I let my needs actually distract me from reality. I was too young to be feeling so old. Donât rush like me. You may rush into something way too fast. Nicer bed that what I had tho. Donât get me wrong; the bed is worth what I paid for it but not what I really wanted to pay for. I gave her the sale because I wanted to I couldâve walked out. I just need people to know who saw $275 and expect $275 and donât have extra money to...
Read moreTotally pulling the wool over peoples eyes. I just spent $749 on what was a firm mattress that I layed on & this is 1 of their lower quality mattresses. Jennifer the owner tokd me that she would load it for me & she grabbed 1 of the mattresses that was wrapped in plastic & she told me that this mattress is the same mattress I layed on & ended up purchasing, but it is the newer version. I got it home & when I went to bed later that night, i layed down & this newer version mattress was very soft. NOT WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS PURCHASING!!! ALL SALES ARE FINAL, NO RETURNS ACCEPTED!!! This is what I consider a scam right from the get go. The prices they advertise as the prices the mattresses start out at just FYI... These starting out @ prices are for a 3" piece of foam & the prices go up $100 for each mattress that is next in line. The pictures on these businesses ads are not the mattresses that srart at $100. Those mattresses in the advertisement are their $1200.00 mattresses. GO TO SLUMBERLAND OR MATTRESS FIRM & I guarentee you that you will get a much much better quality (or atleast the mattress you paid...
