Started attending classes from a Groupon my husband and I got and we loved it so much, we got a membership. And it’s honestly been one of the best things we’ve done not only for ourselves, but each other. I love that we workout together. We keep each other in check. :-)
It was super intimidating the first few times going to class, but it really depends on who the “instructor” is. I say “instructor” in quotes, because all the trainers are there to help teach and keep you safe, but there is usually one person on microphone, keeping the class flowing and calling out instructions/encouragements. I love classes with Bon and Kevin-those two work really well together. Both are super motivating and knowledgeable on the workouts, muscle groups and supplement recommendations. I love the encouragement from “Frenchie” (Aka Natalie). She is a beam of light among the loud music and buzzer timers going on. I love Bridget. She is usually at the front checking people in, but she is always smiling and super friendly and approachable. I’m a fan of hers, for sure. Pepe is serious about safety but awesome when it comes to joining in and doing some of the sets right next to you. (Ou should see him salsa! The man is a PRO.) Steve, the owner of OCfit Irvine often teaches classes in the afternoon. He is a serious, no-nonsense kind of guy. While he sometimes has a drill sergeant voice, he’s actually a really nice guy! Don’t let the “shouting” during the session scare you though-this gym is his pride and joy, and you can tell by who he hires, and how he treats every single person (Grouponers or Members) with respect and care.
The trainers want to see you succeed, and that comes across as a member and a guest. The gym is clean, organized and the workouts are constantly changing every weak, so you never get bored of the order. Each day focuses on specific muscle groups (Mondays and Thursdays are Leg and Booty days, Tuesday is Arms and Shoulders, Wednesday is Back, Core and Chest, Friday is often a whole body workout, and Saturdays emphasize cardio). There is conscious “muscle confusion” happening, so no matter your fitness level, everyone benefits as long as they keep moving and make the effort. They say, “Showing up is the hardest part”, and that “this workout will be the hardest part of your day-the rest of the day is easy.” And it’s the truth. There are people of all ages and ethnicities working out and swearing together. We are all there for different reasons, but bottom line is: you paid to workout, to move, to sweat, and to be inspired. And Ocfit Irvine provides the environment, staff, and equipment. All you gotta do is move and follow along :-) How...
Read moreI came here years ago as a referral from a friend and used a Groupon and became a member. The workouts are challenging, I have been a member at The 12 previously and all of these places are incredibly difficult. After months being a member I became very ill with Lyme Disease and couldn't get out of bed. I went in to cancel my membership, the owner Steve just so happened to be there and pulled my aside and said, "NO" I am not cancelling your membership, you are going to get better and you'll be back. Let's put your membership on hold for however long it takes for you to get better, your membership will be waiting for you when you are ready to come back! If you want to come in, if only for a day, this is your home and you are always welcome. We will work it out but I'm not giving up on you and I want to see you back!! Talk about someone believing in you even when you don't! Steve Hochman is very close with his members and is ALWAYS AVAILABLE even when he doesn't have a moment to himself. He has multiple locations and is always striving to take it to the next level. He implemented MYZone which is a heart rate monitor program so you can track your personal progress, people of all ages, sizes, athletic abilities, this isn't just some place to work out where all the beautiful people go and you feel like you don't fit in. I love that!! The trainers, Bon gets to know each of you along with a well managed staff and they all run around helping, giving you pointers and pushing you to the next level. Can't say enough but in all businesses it starts at the top and is the mind set of the staff! Love this place! I am a business owner and Steve gets my vote as a great asset to our community, a friend and someone I would...
Read moreI have been coming to OC Fit for about two years now and I am so glad I took the chance and tried it out. I will never forget coming the first time I and thinking there was no way I could hang. With that said, I managed to learn all the exercises, with a good amount of help from all the great coaches, and I have never been in better shape in my life. The trainers are amazing about supporting everyone and pay particular attention to newer members to make sure they are practicing proper form and avoiding injury. More importantly though every single trainer truly cares about every person that walks into the gym and supports them to reach whatever goals they have set for themselves. Other gym members are also super friendly and supportive. Besides the amazing trainers and members I am always impressed by Steve, the owner of OC Fit. In the two years I have been attending the Sky Park location he has been upgrading the gym constantly. They have added thousands of dollars of new equipment, expanded the gym, added class times, put in sanitation areas, teamed up with a meal service company, and added towel service. The fact he is constantly reinvesting money into OC Fit to make it an amazing place for members to work out speaks to the pride he has in the business. I can't say enough good things about OC Fit. Whether you are a work out expert looking for a new gym or a someone who has never touched a piece of exercise equipment in your life I can't recommend OC Fit...
