Sanctuary Books And Games — Attraction in Irving

My wife and I were looking for a LCS, and we had looked at lots of places. We were disheartened when lots of places were all about the quick buck, and no real interaction with you. Then we walked into the final shop of the day - saved the best for last, let me tell you.

The minute we walked in, it felt comfortable being in there. There were guys with magic decks, talking about their builds - the various cards they're hunting for. At the table next to them, running his business listing on eBay - bagging and boarding, was Shawn. He is the absolute nicest guy you'll meet, shop owner as well - the man asked if there was anything we were looking for. We gave the usual answer, 'Just looking around, thanks.' Before we turned around, he told us where everything was - where the back issues started, where the new comics were, the books priced on the wall. We could see all of this, but the man wanted to interact and inform us, so we're not lost and know what's what. When it was all said and done, we dropped hundreds of dollars that first trip. He took care of us, we opened up a box with him - listed books we want on our pull list, he gave us 20% off the books that were in our pull list. Back issues were very affordable, not overpriced like other shops. He gave us tons of freebies, he talked to us after our transaction was complete. He genuinely wanted to know about us, we went back and forth talking for 2 hours. That's a man that values his customers, and not just the buck.

The shop isn't the biggest, but the layout is the best - as is the company in Shawn. I'll tell you this, I'd rather be inside a smaller shop with an owner that interacts with you, than a big shop where it's clear they just want the sale. Shawn now has my wife and I as longtime/forever customers and friends. We love him, and his shop - but most importantly we love...

when the owmer of the very establishment makes you feel welcomed, you know you've found a special place.

I spoke with Shawn at length and the man is literally a marvel himself. I hope he won't mind me singing his praises, as he deserves it.

Shawn at one point held an extremely wel paying corporate carewr. Only to abandon it all and do what he loves, Sharing his interest with anyone and everyone. He only cares about reviving the comic book and table top gaming communities. Even if it's at a loss of profit, this man will not stop so long as he has even a few people coming to his store. He's truly dedicated and extremely caring for the communities he fosters in his humble shop. He will do anything and everything he can to make everyone feel welcome, whether it's showering a newcomer with gifts or getting rid of players who only bring bad vibes. Shawn will make sure you leave his store with a smile, because to him, thats the real profit, peoples happiness.

Shawn is alive and well today, if you talk to him for even a bit youll see the absolutely resounding love he carries for his store and his people.

The staff makes this my #1 comic store!

I have been visiting different comic shops near my work and saw this one come up in my search.

Before I visited I messaged the store to see if they had a specific issues. They messaged me back within an hour saying they had one issue in stock. When I visited later that day they had pulled the issue for me, even without me asking!

The staff was very kind, courteous and love to talk about comics! As a new fan myself, I appreciated them filling me in on where the series has been and where it's going. They seemed genuinely happy to have a new comic fan and didn't speak down to me just because I was new (which unfortunately has happened to me at other stores).

The selection is great. Tons of comics, games and collectables at good prices. Because Sanctuary is a smaller store it doesn't have quite as much in stock as the much larger stores I've visited, but that's to be expected. I haven't had any issues finding new books or unique collectibles.

This will be my store of choice going forward. The great staff and selection makes me feel more welcome than any other store I've visited so far. Can't wait to talk about new issues the next...
