Desi Bites - Irving — Restaurant in Irving

My in-laws know that I love East Indian food so they told me there's a great place in a popular East Indian area. The place was Desi Bites.

Walking in, the entire restaurant was full and I felt like I walked into Indian town. That gave me confidence that there's some authentic, delicious food to be had here.

We received our order of Lamb Rogan Josh (classic lamb curry), Chicken Tikka Masala, Dum Ka Goat, and Mutton Chettinad along with a foil tray of Saffron Rice, Plain and Garlic Naan.

First off, the Saffron Rice was cooked properly. I expected no less from any self-respecting East Indian restaurant. They were generous with the rice and we had plenty left over.

The plain Naan and Garlic Naan was cooked perfectly and met my expectations. Personally, I prefer the plain as it is a classic for me.

I specifically asked for the Lamb Rogan Josh so this was the first dish that I tried. It was fragrant and contained bone-in pieces of lamb. Some places that I have tried in the past skip the bone parts. I enjoyed the curry flavor and ate most of it myself.

The Dum Ka Goat was even more fragrant and had a flowery hint. I have never had this dish before, but found the curry different, yet enjoyable.

The Mutton Chettinad was thicker and less gravy-like. The curry leaves helped thicken up the gravy and gave additional flavor to the curry. It was decent, but not my preference.

Finally, the Chicken Tikka Masala was the consensus least favorite as it was on the sweet side. I prefer savory food so the Chicken Tikka Masala would never win me over. My in-laws didn't like the sweetness as well. We did try mixing the other curries with the Chicken Tikka Masala to reduce the sweetness. It was passable, but we won't order it again.

Overall, Desi Bites delivered some delicious dishes and we can see why it was packed on...

I ordered the shrimp curry via Uber Eats, and enjoyed. I stopped by and the only friend person there was the cashier, he was welcoming. I don't think other nationalities go to this place. I suggest making it and exclusive club just for people of your ethnicity. The guy in the kitchen looked at me with a disgusted face. If there were more people in there as the cashier in manner this world will be a better place. As a teacher I teach all my students to ABOVE ALL LOVE ABD RESPECT EACH OTHER. You are not better than the janitor, librarian, the guy cutting the grass on the playground, or the teachers and principal. If we do not change our attitudes and see people and love, your next generation will be just as you're at others because they learn from us. Now is this what God wants for some of His children to lookdown upon another? Isn't this hate? How can this be love, if you castdown another and yet claim to love your kind it is not love. God is not a God of partially, He does not love you more and me less because of my color. Yet the faces I saw yesterday spoke volumes. It is said all behavior is a form of communication - from the guy in the back making me are his behavior, and the patrons. We need to do better as a people. One can't be that intelligent and yet that backwards. Your presentation of my order was not what I ordered - I asked for mild pepper. If someone said no peanuts would you intentionally put peanuts in their food. I know you can do better hence when I return I want you to present your beat work. Again if this is an exclusive restaurant kindly indicate that. One love and it is time to grow in your behavior and mentality. DON'T VISIT THIS PLACE! Worst service! I wish I had an option to give them 0 stars. This is yet another worst Indian restaurant in town. The service here is disgusting. I had ordered via DoorDash for pickup. I reached the restaurant to pickup my order when it said the food is ready in the app. However, when I reached there the lady at the counter said my order will take 5 mins. So, I came back after 5 mins and she asked me who I was (as if she has never seen me before). She was totally lost. I asked her to check my order only to realize they never prepared my order. She didn't even inform me about how long it will take and the WORST part she started ignoring me and attended other customer calls on the phone while I was waiting there clueless. How can you avoid a customer when they have paid for the food at your restaurant. What kind of pathetic service is this? I asked for her manager and he was totally lost as well.
