Anyone who grew up in this area knows the Jackson County Fair is a summer staple that we all look forward to. The fairground has since undergone some major renovations and layout changes. While it does look nice, it takes away from a bit of that nostalgic feeling. We'll get used to it eventually, and younger generations won't know the difference so that's really a non-issue. The exhibit hall, animal buildings and grandstand are currently still the same, though. It's a good mix of new and old. My parents have been entering vegetables, sewing and baking to be judged for at least 60+ years. If you ever get a chance to pass through the exhibit hall, you'll notice many vegetables on plates with blue ribbons on them that were grown by Leon. My mother passed away in December of 2021, but I still put a photo of her proudly posing with some of her first place pieces in the sewing exhibit. As you can tell, this event will always hold a special place in my heart. PS, Fiske...
Read moreI have gone to the fair every year as long as I can remember. My kids usually have a good time, but last year only my 6 year old of them liked it. It has gone downhill in quality, and cost is up. We did still plan to go this year. We were planning to buy the wrist bands that allow unlimited rides, as we do every year. We always go on the final Saturday of the fair. This year, 2024, the wrist bands are not available on the final Saturday. Instead they have 2 dollar rides. My youngest went through the fun houses like 50 times last year. That would be $100 if he wanted to do that this year My kids and I decided it wasn't worth it. We are going to a trampoline park in Lansing instead. It will be way cheaper and the kids will have more fun. I just read that the fairs attendance dropped again this year to 114000....
Read moreWe took the Grandchildren to the Monster truck show on Wed. evening 8/11. I feel like you stole our money and our time paying for tickets for this supposed show? I’ve been to several Indoor & outdoor Monster truck shows over the years and this one was the most amateur, poorest shows I have ever attended. Poor equipment, very lame driving and a very annoying announcer over a very poor sound system. We left early as did many others because it was boring and just a horrible show, Do the 2022 fair and attendees a favor a do not have another Monster truck show. People deserve a lot more for their hard earned dollars! It doesn’t really matter to me wh are t you f do o going forward, I will never wee as yet my time or money again on the Jackson...
