As I entered the rustic Grand River Brewery, I could not help but feel welcomed as the hostess instantly greeted me and showed my date and me to an open seat. The restaurant was full of friendly, though slightly anxious, servers preparing for the upcoming dinner rush. It was almost 5pm, so this was to be expected. The hostess happily seated us and handed us two different menus, explaining that the dinner one would start at 5pm. We did not have to wait more than a minute or two before the waitress arrived and asked us what drinks we would like. I requested water and a sample of their seasonal pumpkin ale. To my dismay, she did not ask me for my ID. I realized that my date looked older than me and I was dressed professionally while carrying myself with as much grace as I can muster, but I am still only 22, so I was slightly taken aback by this. The pumpkin ale was a delicious ale, its flavor encompassing fall itself and reminding me of the roasted pumpkin seeds of my childhood. However, I ended up ordering the Michigan Mule, a drink with vodka, ginger, and lime served in a charming copper cup. I have since tried to recreate this drink myself, but I can never get the perfect lime and ginger taste. This drink has the perfect amount of spice flavor from the ginger balanced with the sour of lime. It is a must-have for vodka drinkers. Returning to analyzing the service, our waiter brought our drinks to us in a timely manner and kept our glasses of water full throughout the whole evening. I ordered their risotto with carrots and mushrooms. The waitress warned me that because this was only on the dinner menu she could not place the order until 5pm, which was still in another ten minutes. I said this was fine and was pleasantly surprised when my risotto was served a mere ten or so minutes after five. It was very hot, clearly just finished. The risotto was too salty for my taste, but still enjoyable with the balance of the mushrooms and carrots. I only ate half of my risotto, and the waitress promptly and kindly package it within a to-go container. The whole menu was reasonably priced for the items offered, the atmosphere provided, and the quality of service given. Overall, my experience was wonderful. I enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere of the Grand River Brewery immensely and the service was outstanding. I was a little disappointed that I was not asked for my ID and in the saltiness of the risotto that I was served, but other than that I have absolutely no complaints and will definitely return for another Michigan Mule and for more delcious and reasonably...
Read moreIn town for the race at Michigan and made a point to make this a stop as we're craft beer enthusiasts. We sat ourselves at the bar and were greeted by a nice young man (forgot name - full dark beard, late 20s). He could not have been a better salesman for the facility, raving about the beer, but also the food and other employees. We had a few different beers and all were to our liking. For dinner, my wife got the Caprese Salad (no complaints) and I went with the BBQ Combo Special of Brisket & Smoked Wings with two sides. The wings were very good as was the brisket, but only received one slice of brisket (2-3oz I'm guessing) and five wings. The wing quantity was advertised, but for $30, I would hope at least two slices of brisket would have made the plate. I was left a bit underwhelmed. The Mac & Cheese was good and the Rice & Beans were fantastic although they came out separate. I had to mix them myself and was a bit of a challenge on a full plate of food (a few beans were lost in the mix). All in all, the quality was great and it brought us back for breakfast the next morning. The female bartender was also extremely friendly and cheery (as was most of the staff we encountered). My wife had the Huevos Rancheros (again, no complaints) and I had the Corn Beef Hash. I never pass up 'real' corn beef hash when I see it and was not disappointed. Corn Beef was tender, juicy and well represented on the plate. And a flavorful Brown Ale is a great breakfast beer...
Read moreUsed to love this place had creative pizzas and sandwiches good selection of drinks , nowadays pizzas are basic attempted to order a pizza today that had come back from the old menu which was great menu showed that they serve pizza from 9am to 7pm wasn’t even hungry but seeing this on the menu again made me want one unfortunately when I ordered I was informed that they don’t serve pizza until 5 o’clock mind you it was as 4 pm and the lady sitting behind us had a pizza Togo box on her table. Aside from that we had a 20 minute wait to be seated when there was various tables available , the only reason we came here is because our ladys like cider and they have both beer and cider best of both worlds right ? Not really they were out of the only cider they had which forced our ladys to go with sours which they DID NOT LIKE completely different. I finished my beer my buddy finished half of his and the lady’s barely touched what they had to go with , my friends order chronic fries that mentioned garlic and had none whatsoever, still left a tip because it’s not the servers fault that they run things the way they do , not serving outside in the beautiful day that we have and on top of that the bathroom toilet was covered in feces ?!? Unfortunately we won’t be coming back and wouldn’t recommend anymore wasted...
