Bombshell Beauty Salon — Attraction in Jacksonville

Going to give it short sweet and very blunt. Appointment at one so called professional stylist (TOYA)wasn't their after she confirmed with me via text the same day 30 min prior to appointment. When entering shop owner nor assistant wasn't aware that she booked client for today.She walked in at 1:10/1:15. No apology just oh you can come on over. Then began to say she isn't feeling well.🤰🏾I sympathized with her and asked are you still able to do my hair or not. She stated yes, we began abt 10 minutes later. A little over 3 hour later she had completed the right side of my head. I asked how much longer did we have she replied Oh you got something else to do? I responded that I didn't know it would take 3 hrs for one side of my head. At that moment she did speed up a little bit.And stated about another hour. Got out the shop at 6:15. I respectfully paid for my services but was not happy that I paid the amount she asked of me but didn't get the full fulfillment of what I asked. I left slept on it just to give my self time to cool off, text her knowing how I feel and she then wanted to point out flaws about my hair and how it had to be tweaked and changed but never mentioned this while her hands were in my head the whole while. Went back in fourth with text to each other a few times. Then I get call and text from number wasn't familiar with and it was Swan stating that she seen the text I sent Toya and that she didn't understand why I'm upset. But she wanted to correct it from the customer service standpoint. She stated that their was no bad blood it's my shop I just want the situation handled since you feel cheated cash app me and I will personally send you the difference of what you felt you should have paid. I advised her that I didn't feel it should have been her to do it. That it should have been TOYA.Long story short she stated I'm going to cash app you the difference but don't book anyone in my shop anymore so because I wanted clarity because my cousin works their as a nail tech ...I can't get my nails done by Tasha she stated " yes ma'am because I dont want any further incident to come up in the future." Now if it wasn't bad blood or any ill feelings as was stated then that would not have been said but because I gave feed back I was told I couldn't even come in the shop to spend money with my own cousin. .... But heyyyy greaaaaattttt customer service. And great job taking ownership. 🥂 to...

AMAZING services received from Marnae!! 😍❤️ (Tuesday, October 4th 2022 3pm)

I was having a hard time finding a black hairstylist in Jacksonville as I’m not from here and don’t know any black women to give me recommendations. I went to another shop last year and the service I received was ridiculously terrible. The wait times were wildly long and the “stylist” that did my hair, treated my hair horribly (hair not properly washed, washed my hair without detangling or removing my months of shedding, ignored me when I said my hair was still dirty and ripped my hair out during the blowout). So of course I refused to go back to that shop this year.

I finally found Bombshell Beauty Salon after calling a place that wasn’t licensed to wash hair :/ …and I’m so happy to have found Marnae, I called this morning and was able to get in same day (as it’s a weekday)! I was very excited about that, as my hair was in desperate need of getting done. Marnae was super friendly and really nice to talk to. We shared some stories and some laughs :) Marnae throughly washed and conditioned my hair and was very gentle with the blowout. The other shop I went to, my hair was extremely mishandled and roughhoused. Marnae took great care while blow drying. Then she trimmed my hair just a tiny amount and then braided my hair down in cornrows for me to be able to install my lace unit at home. She did a wonderful job on my braids. I felt no discomfort while she was braiding (some stylists braid so tight you can’t feel your hair breaking), but the braids aren’t lose either. I can’t stress enough how friendly she was and just fun to be around. I very much enjoyed the experience I had there...

I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience. I booked a natural style and trim with Marnae’ after seeing several great reviews for her. I arrived to the appointment five minutes late and still waited an additional half hour to be seen. When I sat in the chair, she lightly sprayed my hair with water (it was not even damp) and then began to rake through it with a brush. I politely told her that my hair is easier to detangle when it is fully wet. She told me that my hair tends to matte and continued to dry brush through my week old wash and go curls. I expressed my concern to her again, and she proceeded to ignore me. I asked her if she was going to respond to what I said and she said, “well this is easier for me.” I have gone to several natural hair salon stylist, and never have had them rake through my hair while it is dry with a brush. The last time this happened in a salon, I was a child and it was before natural hair stylist were widespread. I know that this leads to breakage and single strand knots for me. I lost all confidence that she knew what she was doing with natural hair and told her that I was done and got up and left. I paid a $35 nonrefundable deposit and all I am left with is disappointment.

Update: Swan provided a full refund of my deposit; she was very professional...
