Kosciuszko (Thaddeus) Park — Attraction in Jefferson Township

I'm very worried about discrimination at the park. During this Winter 2017 session at Kosciuszko Park, North Region Supervisor Rebecca K. Tirado supported my exclusion form Open Volleyball play in a discriminatory effort to keep an entitled, homogenous, segregated group of elder community members comfortable in their clique. This was wrong, and an example of the worst and longest standing issues with our city. I’m not likely to ever truly know why I was excluded from this class. But, I know that among the differential list of potential reasons, my skill level is not likely the deciding factor. It is inexcusable that biased, lay players are authorized to assess my skill level, or to override Gabriel Loza, Koz Park Head Instructor, who concluded that my skill is comparable to every one else’s skill. This experience has taken something from me and my family that Chicago resident should have, the ability participate in city-ran courses offered to the public. It's only right that I make my best effort to do my part in helping Koz Park transition in to a more inclusive and integrated representation of the Chicago Park District. This is a fantastic park with all sorts of activities. For public use any time, are the two baseball fields, children's play equipment, tennis court and enclosed turf soccer field. While the latter of the two have seen better days, it's rare to find these types of facilities open and not booked by rec leagues. It's worth noting that in the field house you can reserve these spaces, and sometimes you will come across the occasional kids lessons going on. The grass park is a great place for a picnic and general outdoor activities. Be warned, you will run in to the occasional vagrant/drunk around the park, so please don't leave your small kids unsupervised and take the standard precautions at times of low traffic and...

This is the closest park to my house and it is a sanctuary of mine. I love just walking down the block to escape from the everyday, take a walk, sit around, roller blade or just people watch. The centralized location makes it a great spot for everyone in the neighborhood to hangout here. The field house always has something going on. There is a nice basketball court, activity room for camps and children's programming, a beautiful swimming pool, soccer field and outdoor tennis court.
