Alright when you mean tamales can be tricky every one has its version this little place is different The tipical flavors strawberry, chicken and chile poblado. Size they are small portion its ok. If you eat there expect to wait not a lot pending what you gonna get on the menu. They need to be a little organize a little due everyone was multitasking yes frustrating Honestly when you see a lot peole coming in and not enough seats to accommodate. Down fall was the ice was coming from a portable cooler one ones you carry for a picnic they were talking ice out to serve the drinks if you charging 3.00 a tamal you gotta have a some kind of ice maker. The counter the girl was mixing the masa side table this should be a little back in the kitchen not just open to everyone coming back and forth between that space .the cook barely had space to cook around there. Maybe if they expand a little the kitchen to make more so others can work doing the tamales and the cook can have his space maybe all can work more relaxed and seeing a friendly atmosphere. Not all stressed out. Your pozole verde was good but when they warm the tostada one side was burn on the edge black i didn't want to complain due what i saw there i just try my best to enjoy but sadly presentation was not what i expected. Santa Masa Tamaleria get a little bit organized and your staff to be proper train Get your kitchen more organized and the equipment you need so the ice doesn't come from a bag in portable cooler. Presentation counts a lot and your staff needs a little smile gives a good vibe. Im was suprise the owners was like what ever? Both smile on tv,utube to promote your business but is not what i saw... here this why i give you 2 stars... politeness helps to make a customer come back for more but when you see this kinda like wow i should try this place out is not like you said on tv utube or tictok.. Quality is a...
Read moreI was excited to try this place but the food was disappointing and the dine in service was not great. They forgot half my order and the one tamal de pollo en salsa verde I was served - was not as great as social media influencers made it out to be. The green salsa was flavorless, watered down, and not even a hint of spice. The masa was not memorable. They need to add more spices not just blend tomatillo. I also had the taco de chorizo verde. It was ok. A lot of raw onion.
I also ordered an agua de jamaica y me quede con las ganas y con sed because they never brought it out. I don’t know how they forgot if there were only three or four other couples dining in and a couple of people ordering takeout and there were at least three people serving plus the cooks. The dude taking our order looked frazzled with the few people coming in. Maybe they need to hire more staff?
As I was leaving I heard another couple at the end talk about how they also were missing food from their order.
I really wanted to like this place especially because the doña who served us was nice and checked in. But at checkout the dude who took our order still tried to charge us for the missing drinks and food. And the whole time he was working less than a foot away from us so I don’t know how he didn’t see that we never got drinks.
I drove from the south side and honestly the tamales I’ve gotten from the street vendors over here are much better. Y’all need to support your local street vendors over these fake mom and pops that cater to a gentrified taste and social media influencers need to do a better job about representing the clientele that this location...
