They emailed me a coupon code a few months back for a lost package and it was a courtesy discount of 20 percent. Then i had surgery and couldnt buy let alone work a phone for couple months. I am finally feeling better and went to find the code in my email but it was buried under tons of spam and i couldnt find it. I then saw that weekend that they had sale of 20 percent off so thought great! The site kept crashing on me so i gave up and waited to try again and couple days later still crashing on me. I finally called academy sports and told them i had a discount coupon that id like to use bc the sale was over and couldnt buy a hoodie i wanted. They wanted me to screenshot the email and coupon code that i told them i couldnt find and i thought that was extreme. I also told them that their website kept crashing and all i wanted was to buy a hoodie with a discount that they offered when it was crashing. They said they couldnt do it even though it was for one item not some huge purchase. In past any other store like nike or adidas or american eagle all have helped out when something like this over past years has happened. But academy sports is just ridiculous for a discount that is at most costing them 12 dollars from price hoodie. So greedy. It was their website that was crashing and they should honor it. The person on the phone said that they did have some crashings from the website on sale dates as well. Will never shop at here again bc of how greedy that they really are against helping a customer regardless if it costs...
Read moreThis store's manager won't stand by their products, even when they are defective. I bought a portable basketball hoop for my young children less than two weeks ago and filled it with water per instructions, yet it blew over, and I discovered that the base had completely drained -- apparently it was never watertight to begin with. I called the store, they asked whether I had a receipt, I confirmed that I had one, then they said they could not help regardless because the item was damaged. I tried to explain that the item is defective and that I could not find the manufacturer so normally the retailer is the next avenue of recourse, but the manager just hung up on me. This experience is so unfortunate, because the rep (EDIT: his name was "Rocky") who helped me purchase the hoop was incredibly kind and helpful, and my twins (4 years old) love basketball and were over the moon when we came home with a hoop for them. Hopefully the rep who helped me (EDIT: Rocky) finds a better employer, someone who actually cares about their customers the way that he cared for us, because the manager at this store...
Read moreUpon entering the doors, we were politely welcomed by friendly greeters, ensuring we didnât have any questions. After spending quality time shopping, Dee our cashier was a treat! There did happen to be a sensor that was overlooked, and when we walked back to get our items checked I sat down my cup, and in a hurry, I accidentally left it behind. As weâre loading up our vehicle, Dan (the man) comes running out of the store to return my left behind cup. Long story short, it was well worth the almost 2 hour drive to shop at Academy! Weâve been Academy fans for an awhile now, happy to report this location is fantastic on all levels! LOVE that they are branching out into Indiana (keep...
