"Where Everybody Knows Your NameâŚâ
Iron Tribe Fitness in Johns Creek, GA is a gym like none other Iâve ever experienced. They have figured out the magic formula to challenge, motivate, and encourage. The approach they take to fitness is simple â we can all get better, stronger, and healthier, but at our own pace and by achieving our personal goals. The coaches truly care, and they show it. There is NEVER a time when they wonât give you extra help when you try to learn a new exercise, nor will they ever question you if you need to adjust a workout or modify an exercise. They push you, give you an extra nudge when you need it, and no one can be happier or be more proud of you when you accomplish a personal goal, or simply finish 20 seconds faster than you did 3 months ago. If you donât show up for classes for a while they call or text to find out if you are ok and gently, but firmly, encourage you to come back. They know how important healthy eating is, and they work very hard to help you find your balance between life, family, travel, and a healthy lifestyle.
The approach to exercise at Iron Tribe is simple but strategic. The classes are exactly 45 minutes, never more, never less. Injuries are rare, we always warmup, practice movements, workout, and then stretch/cooldown. Many of us are no longer in prime shape, but even if we donât finish every part of the exercise we still get a great workout in, and the encouragement by the coaching team is incredible. They make sure you know how important the work you did was, and how you could improve for the next time, but the most valuable piece is that they make sure you know that showing up and working to your best level is truly the victory. I think the greatest thing about Iron Tribe is the community. Every person who comes to the classes is positive, friendly and encouraging. It doesnât matter if Iâm working out next to someone in great shape 20 years younger than me, a brand new mom who is working hard to keep up with her hectic life, or someone 10 years older, everyone cheers you on, gives you a word of encouragement when they run by you, or comes over when they are done to cheer you on as you finish your circuit. More than once has someone come over after theyâve completed their run or done all their pushups, and continued to do them with me, at my speed, to make me keep going, but also to let me know that Iâm not alone out there as I try to do the best work I can.
The folks at Iron Tribe, the coaches and the members, have created an environment that is positive and encouraging. I find that I enjoy it when Iâm there, regardless of what crazy new exercise they have me do, and I feel good when I start and usually even better when Iâm done. I go, that is why I stay...
Read moreIronTribe. Wow. It was just the name of a place to me last May. I wasnât sure about signing up for the 6 Week Challenge, but I knew I need to do something. I figured it was only six weeks and having the summer off as a teacher, if it didnât work it was no big deal.
Iâm also a HS football and baseball coach. I preach discipline, effort and accountability. My problem was that I was not being disciplined myself and was not holding myself accountable. IronTribe helped me with that. The first month was brutal. I was sore from the workouts, my diet had changed dramatically, I went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic and a family vacation at the beach. But through all that, I was losing weight, gaining strength and feeling better. I havenât missed going to at least three classes a week since I started. I have to thank Coach Dexter for that. At one morning class in July, he greeted me and asked how I was doing. I said I wasnât feeling like this was going to be a good workout because I was dragging. He said the only bad workout is the one you donât do. That along with the fact that my son was going through Officer Candidates School for the US Marines Corps kept me getting out of bed for the workouts. Remembering what Dexter said about just showing up and knowing that what I was doing was not nearly as difficult as what my son was going through was all the motivation I needed.
Now, after seven months I couldnât be happier that I chose IronTribe. Itâs been a great place to workout with awesome coaches and the other members have always been helpful and encouraging! My body has transformed. Iâve lost 81 pounds and have had to buy a whole new wardrobe, but thatâs only part of it. I feel healthier, stronger and my knees that were âcrankyâ donât bother me at all now. I also teach and coach better than I did.
If youâre not sure where to start your journey, I can honestly say that IronTribe is the place. Good luck and know that IronTribe will help you...
Read moreTLDR : Did the challenge, followed what they said and came out 20+ less heavy and 6.3% less body fat
Detailed : Having a history of Asthma I was never in great shape but at the beginning of 2019 I probably was in the worst I've been in my life. I have the same excuses forever ... I'll get to it when I have time.. I can lose it when I want to etc.
I joined on a recommendation of a friend who was able to meet his goals. Coming into it you always think these "challenges" are always stacked against you. I'm happy to say that I was completely wrong. Even being slowed down by an early hamstring injury (embarrassingly enough it was the first jump rope jump I did in class) I was about to meet my own personal goal and more.
Throughout the whole process the coaches were extremely supportive. When I was injured they figured out different exercises that I could do in class while i recovered. They constantly are on the lookout to give you tips while working out to make you more efficient. And one of the best things I personally felt about the gym (As it's one of my biggest pet peeves in a lot of modern gyms) is that the coaches really take in your goals in mind and aren't there yelling at you to the point of injuring yourself.
So all in all an amazing experience. All of the coaches are friendly and knowledgeable. The way the structure the gym's culture has all the team members encouraging and helping each other. Multiple times i've seen long time gym members talk to new ones and make them feel at home.
Even if you are tight on time just take my experience as a guide. I followed the diet and only once did any exercise outside the 3 workouts a week plan and I completed...
