To start off - Habitat is a nice community thrift store with a broad selection of items that are usually in pretty good shape....but, as of this year, the environment in the store is changing for the worse. I am a long-time customer who has purchased many items, and I care about the people who work and shop there.
There is an employee there now that does not seem to care about the customers or coworkers. I believe her position is some type of manager, which is sad. I have experienced and observed this person's behavior on multiple occasions (it's hard to ignore).
I have observed this person being rude to her fellow employees/volunteers and to customers. Everyone with eyes and ears knows what I mean but it seems they are afraid to say anything. Ever since this person has come, the atmosphere in the store has changed. When she is around, the better employees seem overtaxed and stressed due her presence. Customers who are brave enough to interact with her are almost always treated like dirt. She does not take time to show interest in others or answer their questions. Her attitude is condescending and cold.
Her name is Beth Anne.
To whoever is really in charge = I say again that Habitat is a good thing. Customer service is key. If you want the store to return to a friendly, welcoming environment where members of the community can give back and find items they need for fair prices, then please deal with Beth Anne.
If you do not deal with her, it is likely that Habitat will go the way of the Johnson City Goodwill. Eventually, you may also lose all your good employees/volunteers. I've seen it happen too many times. Finally, I am writing out of concern that those of us who live in the area will lose a meaningful part of the community due to the selfishness of one person who places the desire for power above caring about people.
Is that a risk you are...
Read moreWOW! I can't believe Google allowed the previous "review" to be submitted. It isn't even a review of a business. It is a personal attack on an individual that asked for the company to "deal with" the person. Seriously?? Pretty evident in my book...someone has a personal grudge and is using this platform to inflict revenge. Did the store look nice? Was it full of products to sell? Was the pricing fair? These are subjects that should be addressed in a review. Therefore, let me respond. I have known Beth Anne personally and professionally for many years. I actually worked for her at one time. She was always known for her contagious smile, friendliness, compassion, hard work ethic, fairness, and being by the book with policies. Very admirable lady. Definitely not power hungry as reviewer described. Not even a title listed on her business card. Scary, cold, and condescending? Absolutely ridiculous! See, I too am a frequent shopper.
If I may suggest to the reviewer, drop the pseudonym and the truth will definitely come out as either a disgruntled shopper that no longer gets special deals or a bitter volunteer with an attitude. Maybe the security cameras I see all over the store should be checked. Might...
Read moreI went to this location 1 time and it is quite big inside. They do seem to get a decent inventory of items. Some items are priced a little high for resale but they do have some good finds here. I just wanted to share that this location does not offer a veterans discount however if you go to the locations in Greeneville, Morristown or Knoxville they do. I am still checking out other locations as working on a house can be very expensive. I have given 3 stars in my review for the way the cashier behaved. When I asked if they offered a military discount her look in response was a bit uncomfortable and a little rude. It is posted online that Habitat for humanity does offer it but per the cashier “our prices are already low we do not offer any...
