I am so thankful to Newstar Jewelers! The previous jeweler I had been to attempted to solder my rings together and did a terrible job causing them to shift apart, so they unsoldered them and caused even more damage. My wedding band was destroyed beyond repair. Diamonds were falling out every other day and I was distraught. My engagement ring was also damaged, but not as bad and was still wearable. The jeweler was not sympathetic for the damage he had caused, but did offer to replace my wedding band, but in return I had to give him my original wedding band. He stated "He had to make some profit off of his efforts..." So I no longer had my original wedding band and was still upset with the damage done to my engagement ring and they were not soldered together which I preferred them to be. So for the past year and half I've dealt with them being separate and the damage of my engagement ring until recently, one of the small diamonds fell out due to the damage that was caused so I had to take it somewhere. My husband researched and found Newstar Jewelers and saw they had wonderful reviews and a long history of business. Even though I was scared to take my ring anywhere we went and they were amazing! They soldered my rings together with no problems, replaced the diamond, and made my rings look like new again. You can no longer see the damage that was done! It still makes me sad that I don't have my original wedding band, but Newstar's work helped me to forget what happened. I no longer have to look down at my hand and have daily reminder of that terrible experience. Thank...
Read moreNice establishment. I stopped by today to have a battery installed in one of my watches. I've lived in Joliet pretty much my whole life and this is the first time I've visited this business. While waiting to have the battery installed I looked at a few timepieces and there was a nice selection. The young lady that assisted me was nice and courteous. Actually I would give 5 stars as I'm often generous with reviews. There was another employee which whom I noticed paid close attention to me as I moved about in the store. She took it upon herself to inquire with the young lady who helped me and was in the mist of completing the debit card transaction asking her "if everything was okay". Earlier while viewing two fine timepieces that I found quite nice. I informed the young lady that I and my wife would probably be back in to make a purchase. But the little "is everything okay" kind of bother me as I saw no reason for anything to be wrong. I now have some trepidation about visiting your establishment again if you feel the need to ask the employee who was assisting me if everything was okay. I did nothing any different than any of your other customers.
Addendum: I want to thank Newstar Jewelers for the quick response and explanation.. I wanted to edit the above comment and give them 5 stars. I certainly look forward to doing business again with Newstar Jewelers in the...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. I went to this place based on reviews and wow, I was treated as if I was an idiot just for asking questions about custom made jewelry and the store policy. Rebecca the associate who I was speaking with was showing frustration with her responses and wasn’t willing to answer simple questions about custom rings. She made me feel as if I don’t know what I was talking about and she clearly had a hard time listening to what I was asking for so she would understand the customer’s request for a custom ring. She would get upset and respond with a passive aggressive tone. She really needs to treat customers with better respect because she lost this company business. The owners need to train their employees better. Overall she failed to develop a simple quote and spoke back with a tone which made the experience very awkward and uncomfortable. She wouldn’t even address the jewelry I brought in to possibly trade in towards a purchase. With her experience in retail I expected...
