Red Crab - Juicy Seafood — Restaurant in Joliet

If I could put zero stars I would. I had a situation where a drink was knocked over when trying to make room for the waiter so she could place the food on the table. The entire drink not only spilled but also soaked my friend’s entire meal. The waiter stood there and instead of saying let me get this remade for you stood silent it was my friend who had to say is it possible for my food to get remade the waitress replied let me check with my manager. She comes back and says yeah that’s fine we then ask is it possible for the drink to be remade as well considering she only got to take a sip and her entire drink was wasted. She wanted her drink to be apart of her meal and she intended to enjoy it alongside her food. The waitress said she needed to ask her manager. She comes back and says the manager said no we would have to charge you for a second one. Later on we ask to speak to the manager to understand the reasoning behind the drink not being remade and only the food. The manager says well there’s no way to know how much she drank or how much really spilled. I proceed to say well there’s a camera right behind us are you able to check them to confirm that her entire drink was IN FACT spilled. She then says well that camera wont reach that far so we can’t check them. I say wow how convenient and state that I will not be paying for two drinks as my friend only drank one as the other one was spilled. She then says let me go talk to my owner. She comes back and says the owner said we have to charge for two because we don’t know for sure if the original drink was full or not when it was spilled. I say can I speak to the owner. She says he’s not here , I called him and he doesn’t speak english. I said well that’s not going to work because my friend did not drink two drinks. I then say is there a compromise we can make because something’s got to give so I suggest taking 50% off the second drink even though she only had one but again I’m trying to compromise she says let me ask the owner. She comes back and says that’s fine. Overall the back and forth and arguing with customers as a manager was very unprofessional. As a business you should work with the customer to fix the issue. This place gets tons of business so remaking one drink instead of charging us for two would not have hurt their business. Went back the next weekend 87/2021 completely different experience, the waitress checked on us multiple times and the other one was no where to be found.

The person who greeting us was very friendly, set us down, there was no wait and she even complimented me on my outfit.

We ordered and the food, there was not a long wait before receiving it. All the food, shrimp, crab legs, corn, muscles, and potatoes had a lot of flavor and the seasoning on everything was just right, extremely tasteful!

Only problem we had was our waitress never checked on us for anything. I saw her check on her one other table with four people at least 3 times (actually more). She brought our drinks, took our order and never came back. Someone else brought the bucket for shells, the bib, etc., and explained what everything was that she'd given us. Next time I'll listen and use the bib but I can't eat with plastic gloves on but I see why you need them, lots of flavor in the buttom for dipping which becomes messy.

When we wanted a refill we eventually had to ask another waitress since our waitress choose not to acknowledge us after taking our order. We did notice that she got a large table after we were there eating for 45 minutes, why she didn't come back to check on us I DON'T KNOW! I did see her check on her third table several times as well but again not us.

She received a tip but not what we'd usually give (we understand how important tips are but you also have to give us service), the remainder of her tip was given to the other waitress who saw we were being neglected and checked on us a couple of times and went to tell our waitress to get us refills.

With all that being said the food was very fantastic, so delicious, portion size was very good, more than enough but so good we ate it all. We'll...

So, my suggestions is to look at my prior reviews on other restaurants and see what a uppie person I am regarding my food and where I eat and then read this review.

I will start out with the best aspect of this review. For appetizers, we had crabcakes which was cooked too perfection and just right enough for an appetizer, where it did not overstuff us. The seafood Cajun boil was great. I had a seafood boil of scallops, headless shrimp, and andouille sausages. Also In the bowl was potatoes, onions and corn. It was delicious. Cajun spice was right on and you have a choice of it if you want it spice to be mild, medium, hot or extremely hot. I had medium and it was perfect. My girlfriend had a boil which consisted of headless shrimp, clams, and muscles. She got her cajun butter mix, flavoring, and added mild. I had some of hers and was very good. I ate all mine up, she took her partially home The service was attentive and on spot. It was a decent crowd for a Tuesday night. The atmosphere is really nothing special, but it was quiet and peaceful. Full liquor bar with wine, beer, and hard drinks along with soft drinks. The only thing I didn’t like is that I ordered ice cream and I received a small premanufactured ice cream dish For like a little kid. As my girlfriend stated, it’s a portion control ice cream that I needed for I don’t overindulging it. Lol. The total for both of us with drinks was $88, which I thought was good.
