If I could give Kalamazoo Custom Tailoring more than five stars I would - the owner, Hassan, was a true life saver in helping me alter my bridesmaid’s dress! My bridesmaid’s dress was ordered online and had the most awkward placement near the waistline which made me worried it would be difficult to adjust. I heard about Hassan’s work through a friend who went to Kalamazoo Custom Tailoring for their wedding and gave glowing reviews about his service. And she was not wrong!!! Not only did Hassan fit me into his schedule under a tight deadline and tailor my dress perfectly, he went above my expectations with the customer service he provided me.

I’ve been getting my clothes tailored for years and have regularly experienced tailors who don’t really communicate with you and want you in-and-out with alternations. Not Hassan, he reassured me that the alterations to the dress were going to turn out the way I imagined and spent extra time making sure I was happy with the placement and length, walking me through the alterations that were to be made. He promptly called me when my dress was ready and instead of just picking it up and leaving, he encouraged me to try on the dress before leaving to make sure I was happy with the end product. Which I was.

Not only did it feel good to support a local business during these times, I am so happy I did, as I have definitely never received this type of service elsewhere. Our wedding party had a horrible time with this place. We picked out suits and waited for them to come in. When the finally came in, there were 3 different styles that were close but not the same. The owner said that since we took so long to get all the measurements in, he could no longer get the correct suits. There was no phone call to let us know this was the case. Later in the same setting he said that it was a problem with the bigger guys not having the correct suits when in fact one of them did. After much discussion, he would not refund any suits that had been tailored and we had to pay full price for the wrong suits. We re-ordered suits again at "Discounted Price" which we later (after the wedding) found them at the "Golden Needle" down the street for $20 less than our discounted price. I had my suit pants shortened to fit and when I came to pick them up they were different lengths. He noticed and then said he would fix them but charged me again for re-tailoring them. After all of this was said and done, I had two suits when I only wanted to pay for one and he had the audacity to tell me that he was giving me a great deal on these suits so I would come back for the next wedding party. I cannot believe that he actually thought he was doing the right thing. Never again will I or any other members of the wedding party go there...

I’m in town only for a short period (I’m currently living in Prague) to make wedding arrangements for this coming fall. After hearing wonderful comments and recommendations about this place, I called to inquire about my bridal dress alterations. Because I will be leaving at the end of June, and only had a short time (2.5 weeks) to make alterations, I knew it might be slightly difficult to make arrangements. At first, I was told to call back in a few days to make sure the seamstress could work me into her schedule. I called, and was told to call back the next morning because she was ill, and my appointment was canceled. The next day, I called back, and she was a no-show, so I was told they would call me “sometime next week”, regardless, to let me know what was going on. I have yet to receive any phone call. Gratefully, I found a seamstress that would work with me on such short notice. I’m time sensitive, and couldn’t wait only a week before I leave the country to have dress alterations done. I wish I could give Kalamazoo Custom Tailoring a better review, as I was looking forward to...
