The New Vic Theatre — Attraction in Kalamazoo

This is a really unique theater, very cozy and intimate and set up more like a restaurant than a theater (though the back seats are elevated like in a theater). Most seats have a little table. We've been coming here for decades to see The Christmas Carol including in 2023. The productions is always first rate with a great stage. I've been to a lot of different theaters around the country, and this is always the standard I compare everything to.

I did notice this year that a few of the actors felt like they were reading their lines and the main actor who played Scrooge was hard to hear. But otherwise, it was a fantastic cast.

My biggest complaint is the drinks and snacks: they are from the 1980s. Snacks are literally candy bars. Why not partner with a cafe or bakery downtown and provide some high-quality snacks? People will pay for it. And for drinks: they serve soda with cream in it called a fuzzie which kids love, but for adults, why not some quality teas, lattes, and/or coffee (including decaf) from a local cafe? Or some hot apple cider? Though this is a real missed opportunity, the overall experience is still so good that I'm keeping my rating at 5 stars but would love to see...

I went here every other year with family. I absolutely love it, the stage plays are fantastic. So much nostalgia just thinking about The New Vic. Also I highly recommend the drink called "Chocolate Fuzz". Delicious! Great family outing on...
