We are visiting the area, scoping out all of the restaurants, living options, and the area in general for a possible transplant here, from Ohio, due to a new job offer. Artesian Sandwich Co. was our 1st Kzoo experience! It did not disappoint!! 😍🤩😍🤩 While ordering food from the expansive assortment of options, the girl taking my order (Chorus ? Spelling? Sorry!) Was SO kind and HELPFUL. She gave us a lot of guidance regarding the downtown area as well as the Portage & surrounding areas. The owner, Ryan, was amazing as well. He, too, took time to talk with us, even coming outside to where we were seated and sitting down with us. He has a super sweet personality and a helpful heart. You can tell these are just really great folks. We had our 87 lb black lab with us, who has been a trooper, as we visit apartments...Ryan brought her out a huge stainless steel container of water. Now we not only like Ryan...we LOVE HIM. How freaking thoughtful and sweet is he???!!!! Now onto the food & atmosohere: we loved both! It's a very chill vibe & sitting outside is really nice. The food was EXCELLENT! I got the veggie sandwich & pasta salad. It had a TON of romaine and spinach- like 89 inches thick! 🤣 it had a nice layer of humus- id say roasted red pepper humas (?) Delicioso😘 ... it had a perfect amount of Crunchy, layered, cucumber, tomatoes, and it was on a whole grain bread, which I had toasted (just the bread), with a melted provolone cheese...it was scrumptious. The pasta salad was also uniquely yumified. No idea what the "secret sauce" is..but it's really good, and the pene' pasta was perfectly cooked. My husband had grilled cheese. He said it was a.m.a.z.i.n.g!!!! He thinks it had American, Swiss, and pepperjack cheese on sour dough. His exact words were, " this sandwich is AMAZING and almost too big for a 205 lb man to eat"!!! We will definitely be back and have found OUR NEW FAVORITE...
Read moreThis was such a lovely place to stop for lunch. We were out and about for the salsa cook off and wanted some "real" food but didn't have room for a lot. A sandwich sounded perfect. First of all the people that own this place are just wonderful. They are super friendly and love to tell all kinds of stories about how and why they chose the things they did to be in the shop (right down to the lemonade in the case...Hubert's which we love!). As I said we were quite full from salsa and chips so we only ordered one sandwich. We just got a classic turkey salami provolone some amazing Parmesan bread. The bread was the softest yummiest thing I've ever had but yet it held up to all the sandwich stuff in it. I really wish we had tried a couple different sandwiches because there were so many yummy ones to choose from. I love that as we ordered the sandwich he threw the turkey on the slicer fresh. They pride themselves on natural fresh great ingredients. I will definitely be coming back to try some different combinations. The seating is just two big long Community type tables which might throw some people off. But my daughter and I met the loveliest little girl and played tic-tac-toe with her and her dad while we snacked on our sandwich. Now I will say they are a little bit pricey but you get what you pay for...
Read moreGas station sandwiches at best. Save yourself $9 and go get a premade sandwhich at Circle K. Here is the list of the overwhelming 'Artisan' ingredient options. Bread: 1. Wheat 2. Sourdough 3. Rosemary. (Yes that's it...) Cheese: 1. Provolone 2. Mild cheddar 3. Pepper jack (Yes that's it...) Toppings: mayo, lettuce, tomato and onions. Secretly, if you ask, they also have mustard and pickles, oh yes what a fine selection. Super sad and tiny sandwhich is what I received. Look at my pics I uploaded, what a joke! 'Artisan' Sandwhiches? Then disgusting Subway must be secretly owned by Gordon Ramsey. No wonder the only other couple in the place at lunchtime was loudly complaining that for $30 dollars they could have 'eaten in with tip' at one of the good restaurants downtown and not be starving afterwards. I know this sounds harsh but you will thank me later. Just look at the pics I posted, worth a...
