The hike is beautiful. The nature walk is easy. The views are beautiful. This park is enjoyable year round as long as it's plowed. There are great ranger activities for kids as well as adults. There are rocks to jump from (separate from the swimming area - great if you don't want your kids to get any ideas.) The water in the general swimming area goes out pretty far before getting deep. Down side: the parking for the water is packed. The beaches are packed. The shoreline is muddy and undefined. DO NOT CAMP AT THIS LOCATION IF YOU HAVE A LARG RIG OR ARE UNEASY MANEUVERING YOUR RIG! The roads are narrow, winding, and it's heavily wooded. This makes for a beautiful campground but not an easy one to get through. Also be aware of the camp hosts. There are several people hosting but some of them are very crabby! They will nitpick about simple things like children playing, twinkle lights on your site, your car not being in the exact spot on the site that they want, children using Scooters or bikes on the pavement even though their parents are right beside them, etc. And they think that they have the right to cut through your site at any time. Also note that it costs $3 to take a 6 minute shower. It's pretty...
Read moreI’m writing this review as I lay in my tent on my first night in Wayfarers. Really really beautiful area and Bigfork is full of amazingly nice people that don’t judge. The park is beautiful. I have to admit that for someone who has never been here before, they really could have warned you, you were on your own this time of year in finding your way around park. Fortunately after calling Reserve America and getting no where I ran into a volunteer who happened to run campsite. She was no where near the closed entry gate station or closed Park Ranger Station (who had somebody sitting inside who ignored me while I sat in my car on the phone with Reserve America??) but has all the information I needed and guided me to my site. She was awesome and so was her partner (husband?) who sold me wood for fire. Cash only for wood and showers but lots of ATM’s and shopping close at hand. Good cell/internet service but no WiFi or anything to fancy. Perfect place to clear your head and go explore. Would highly recommend just be prepared to kinda fen for yourself in finding your way around if early or late in season. Volunteer trailer is where to stop though if lost and looking...
Read moreGreat campground right on the water however there are a few things to note…if you have a trailer or a second vehicle there are only 5 overnight parking spots for the entire campground which is a big problem. We had to park our boat and trailer in a lot out by the hwy and worry about our boat all night. Secondly their are 2 camp hosts living on site. One of them is great- Barry and Jane will call you over to their camp, ask how they can help you explore the area, they have maps to give you, are incredibly knowledgeable and kind. The otherpppopp host is Barry and Denise who hide in their monstrosity of an rv and are the most unfriendly camp hosts we have ever encountered. Don’t even bother asking a basic question like where to park because you will be met with a shrug of the shoulders and a rude response. I asked one thing and just ended up repeatedly apologizing for bothering them. Not sure why- isn’t that their job? But the campground is small, compact, wooded, and mostly quiet. The bathrooms are cleaned daily, you can buy a warmish shower for $3 amd it’s a great location just 5 mins from...
