Barnes Park offers an exceptional urban sanctuary, seamlessly blending active recreation with nature’s tranquility. Athletes will appreciate the meticulously maintained softball fields, complete with dugouts, bleachers, and lush outfields. Adjacent sand volleyball courts nestle beneath mature oaks, providing the perfect spot for spirited matches in dappled sunshine. Clean, modern restrooms with baby-changing stations ensure comfort, while numerous picnic areas equipped with sturdy tables and grills invite families to celebrate weekends outdoors. The park’s winding creekside path, lined with wildflowers and intersected by charming wooden footbridges, is ideal for joggers, cyclists, and contemplative walkers seeking respite from city life. Benches placed at scenic overlooks encourage bird-watching, reading, or quiet reflection by gently flowing water. Impeccable landscaping and regular maintenance reflect the community’s pride, making Barnes Park a beloved destination for weekend warriors and nature enthusiasts alike.

Best softball field, ever. Lots of trees, a great amount of shade, lots of places (besides bleachers) to sit IN that shade, fields are sunken/lower than ground level (where the crowds are) providing great views of the field. Best of all: SHADED DOUGOUTS!! each dugout is inside a small brick shack that provides lots of cover/shelter from the elements and shade. Unfortunately, no animals allowed on the property.. but SO worth it. My daughter has been in both rec and competitive softball for 7 years, I've seen more fields I can remember...but this one makes an impression - beautiful, comfortable, clean.

This park has so much to offer. Two playgrounds, one newer than the other, a fenced river to feed ducks (please only feed them corn or oats), sand volleyball, baseball fields, a soccer field and lots of pavilions and benches. There does not, however, appear to be a restroom, but drinking fountains function and are scattered throughout. The shade on the playground is minimal, so bring sunscreen if it concerns you.

What experience, bought a house within walking distance 15 years ago, I live alone with my Pug dog. as do many seniors, and we all pay a lot of taxes for schools and parks that we don't or cant use. Where I'm from in Calif they allow dogs on leashes in most all parks and do not have any problems, rules say pick up after you pets. In Utah the family state, they really don't consider their dogs as part of the family or there would be more consideration and accommodation. three parks, Sandy, south Ogden and Davis Co fairgrounds with no trees, give a dog a break, and allow the people who pay for the parks to have at least a small area where our dogs can be walked,...
