I should start by saying that my 4-year-old daughter loves coming here; however, I was disappointed by our recent experience hosting a party here on a Saturday morning.
When I showed up early and told them I was there to set up, they told me that they didn't have us on the schedule, despite the fact that I had called/emailed one of the employees to confirm. This meant that they had to quickly tidy the party room, which was quite cluttered.
It was also disappointing because we had to share the museum space with other kids/parents who weren't there for the party. While I understand that we shouldn't have gotten special treatment just because we were having a party there, it would have been nice to have the museum closed for at least part of our 2-hour function so that the kids could play freely.
The last piece of criticism that I have is that after picking up the party room, I checked in with the front desk staff. The executive director stated that normally I would have had to pay the remaining room fee at the beginning of the party, but that I could take care of it then. The additional charge was $105, but I got $100 of my deposit back because we cleaned the room well enough, which means that I still owed them another $5.
My husband and I paid the fee, but felt that this was pretty silly given that we weren't even on the "schedule" for that day. While we'll continue as members her for the remainder of our membership, I'm not sure that we'll renew and I definitely wouldn't consider throwing a party here again or recommend it to...
Read moreI went to the childrens museum during an event they were holding, I found the event on Facebook. The flyer stated the event ran from 1030 am - 2 pm. I was rushed outside by an employee to participate in outdoor play within 10 mins of being inside. When we finished outside to go back inside apparently the museum was closed for “sanitation”. I was told to come back, but I had plans in the later afternoon which is why I was there in the morning because I couldn’t come back. As I was leaving, I saw all the employees leave for their lunch break instead of sanitizing. I left with a screaming toddler who barely got to enjoy any of the imagination play inside. Instead I drove over an hour to get there and paid 20$ for him to play with chalk that he plays with every single day. When I called to get my money back for a bogus play day, I was told that I was not going to get my money back but that they appreciated my feedback. I have NEVER had issues with this museum before, i love it here and so doesn’t my son. I was not aware that the summer fest event would also be closing mid day considering nowhere on their flyer for the event states that. I will not be returning and I suggest that anyone who goes there for an event realize that they do still close for a lunch break but they lie to you and tell you it’s...
Read moreFirst time going since they moved from the Colonoscopy Mill. It was awesome then and it's even better now. The space is more expansive and they have all the old fun stuff my first child loved in addition to a bunch of new areas which both kids loved. The space is very well thought out and it's great that many of the play areas are sponsored by local businesses (although I'm all good with the Christian School BS). My favorite part was that there are many boxes at each h of the "businesses" so that if your kid wants to play mail person they can go around and visit every area delivering. It's like a little microcosm of a town. Such a great resource to have especially in an area with extreme weather in the winter and summer. Very well thought out and educationally minded play areas with out the overt commercialization and product placement of larger chain children's paly places. Will return. Many times. My kids demand it and I can feel good...
