I ordered a dish without olives, but it arrived with them. I only took one bite before I tasted them. No biggy, I spent a moment trying to pick them out, but it was a bit much and genuinely dislike their flavor. I politely with a smile let an associate walking by know, even apologizing because I felt bad it had to be remade.
The young girl who took my order then came out and not in a mean tone, said something along the lines of, you need to be more clear or more careful next time you order. Not exactly rude in her tone, but… dang, girl. Lol That’s not something you say to a customer. It didn’t matter whose fault it was, I found that unacceptable.
The corrected dish came out, but I had lost my appetite (rare for me). I boxed it up and gave it to a homeless dude in a town over, as I was traveling. Trying to get some good vibes out of a negative situation. Maybe she was under pressure from a strict work environment and worried about getting in trouble for a remake or maybe just wanted to make a point it wasn't her fault. Don't know, don't care. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
What's funny, I didn’t even want to dine in, but I always feel bad staying in a place for over an hour ordering just coffee and working. I purposely sat outside in the heat for a bit to make room for diners inside before I ordered. I was going to order a muffin togo too, but not after that. I grew up in the biz, and I hope she sees this not to get in trouble, but to learn from. It's not about chasing blame, in work or life. This was the first time in I can't even membs an employee at a restaurant has been even...
Read moreLiving just down the street, I've been here quite a few times. Brewbakers has multiple personalities. Part cafe, part coffee roastery, part event space, part record & "stuff" shop. I buy my coffee beans here as they always have a good selection of fresh roasted stuff. Sometimes I'm tempted by a donut or pastry. The cinnamon buns are meal-sized! Once in a while I'll stop in for brunch or lunch.
The food and drinks are always good, and the drink selection is particularly wide, from coffee, to tea, to espresso drinks, to beer and cider and soda and combinations of the above.
Atmosphere is very unique. The shop is in the high-ceilinged ground floor of an old industrial building, and the brickwork and beams are celebrated, not hidden. It can be loud when it's busy, and at busy times you'll find a line that snakes into the dining area. There's plenty of seating, including some outdoors, but it fills up. This is a popular place, and for good reason.
The location is just a short walk from Main St. and near the rail trails. If you're in the area and looking for sandwich, a snack, or coffee, I highly recommend...
Read moreWent there today and ordered two drinks. The man taking our order had us repeat each part of our order a couple times and seemed like maybe he was new, which is of course totally fine.
We ordered two large drinks, and received one medium and one large. When I asked the woman who handed it to me if they were both larges, she said no. I let her know I ordered a large and she told me I could wait until she was done making another order and I said no it’s okay, not a big deal. (It took them 20 minutes to make our two drinks to begin with, and she didn’t seem super happy I was talking to her)
As we’re putting on the lids to our drinks, the kid who took my order said “she ordered a medium” and the woman said “I believe you” as if I was lying to them? Just poor customer service and rude people.
It was funny too because when he asked what size I wanted, myself and my husband both said large at the same time which we laughed at, so I know I ordered a large. Anyways, won’t...
