If I could give a zero, I would. I brought my little girl in to choose a necklace as a treasure for her dress up box. We do this every once in a while as a reward. She was rudely scolded for "touching" by the woman who runs the store. Mind you, my daughter was simply touching the ones she liked with her index finger to point them out to me. She was not taking them down or doing anything but being a well behaved little shopper. I was standing two feet from her supervising her the whole time. When I asked the woman if children were allowed to touch the toys, she stated that she could touch them but not play with them. When I told the woman that I did not appreciate the way she spoke to both me and my daughter, she repeatedly told me that I needed to Breathe.... her tone was cold, sarcastic, and snarky. I left the store in tears! Another shopper who witnessed the whole scene came running out after me and said "I just had to chase you down to let you know that you and your little girl did nothing to deserve that. That woman treated you terribly!" To that stranger, I thank you so very much. I needed that kindness at that moment . That you stopped what you were doing to ease my heart, means more than I can say. To the manager of this store, I will never return. I donated at least $1000 in goods every year to your organization. I am an avid thrifter who prefers used over new. I spent at least $1500 in your store yearly..... I will never go in there again and my donations will find a home elsewhere. I have several friends who have encountered similar treatment from this woman (the manager).. They no longer are customers either. I now understand why first-hand. I have personally worked in retail for 20 years and I owned a gift store for 8 of those. I would never in a million years talk to my customers so rudely....they are the ones who keep you in business. They are the ones who pay your salary... you should treat them...
Read moreI have been going to this thrift store for about 10 years, and it has always been owned/managed by the same woman (the short haired woman who others liken to a goblin). I have experienced her as oddly rude in the past, but never enough for me to care much or to stop shopping at her store. I always thought the prices were decent and the selection okay.
.... but today .... I was in the children's area with my 18 month old daughter, she had taken a couple of stuffed animals out of their bin and set them a couple feet away. This woman dashed up to my daughter and yelled "YOU CAN'T DO THIS HERE! THIS IS A STORE! YOU CAN'T DO THIS HERE!!!" I said to the woman, "the toys have been on the floor for only a few minutes and I was going to put them back before we left" and she said "it doesn't matter!! you can't do this here!!! it's a store!!!" she was extremely rude and loud.
I'll admit I was dumbfounded. I know how frustrating it can be to work in retail, or have little children make messes in your store-- but it was two stuffed animals, and she acted like we'd tipped over a whole shelf of glassware and then laughed about it.
As I was checking out, I calmly said to the woman -- "I'm sorry my child moved your stuffed animals, and I just want to tell you I've never in my whole life experienced such rudeness in retail" -- giving her the opening to apologize or explain -- nope! She just turned around and walked away!
I've never taken the time to write a negative review but -- seriously, who shouts at a baby???? Lady, I believe it's time you sold your thrift store to someone with manners. I will never be shopping...
Read moreI've been going to this thrift store for years. Sometimes with my children, other times without. I will say that 1. My children are very well behaved, especially in public; 2. It is a different experience going without your kids. The woman owner (that I see so many others complaining about) has spoken to my daughter (maybe age 4 at the time) negatively when my daughter was playing with one of the toys. She snapped something about losing pieces.. which I can understand but also, what the F. I can't remember if we purchased anything that day but I do remember feeling secondhand embarrassment for the owner. I wish I was brave enough to say something to her that day, like how my kids actually take care of their toys and games and never lose the pieces. Anywho... after further reflection I can imagine the majority of the children who enter her store are not supervised by their parents and maybe even damage her inventory. Maybe she is rude towards kids because she's been given plenty of reasons to behave that way. Who knows!!! I will say, being a homeschool mom, the price & selection of books and board games is unbeatable. Craft supplies, office supplies, costume clothing, antique treasures etc.. if you're shopping on a budget and you have "thick skin" so as not to be easily offended, this...
