Actors Craft: Where the Real Work Begins
I started my professional acting journey at the age of 27 at Actors Craft in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Under the expert guidance of Maureen Cashin Bolog I’ve been introduced to the kind of serious, transformative training that every actor deserves. One of the most powerful aspects of my training here has been the Chubbuck Technique. Developed by Ivana Chubbuck and taught masterfully by Maureen, this technique goes far beyond surface-level performance. It teaches you how to harness your real-life experiences and emotional truth—not just to “feel,” but to fight for what your character wants in every scene. It has made me a more grounded, intentional, and fearless actor. What sets Actors Craft apart is Maureen’s passion and dedication to her students. She holds you to a high standard, but she does so with compassion, insight, and a deep belief in your potential. The environment she’s created is professional, supportive, and designed for real growth. This experience has shown me that acting is not just a career—it’s a lifelong journey. And I’ve committed to that journey fully. No matter where life takes me, I will always continue studying, growing, and training as an actor. And because of Actors Craft, I now have the tools, mindset, and confidence to pursue this craft at the highest level. I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Miss Martee at FEED Kitchens in Madison, Wisconsin. Thanks to her generosity and support, Maureen was able to host a two-day Audition Technique workshop on Saturday and Sunday right here in Madison. It was an incredible opportunity for local actors to receive high-level, professional training without having to travel far. That workshop opened a new door for many of us, and I’m so grateful it happened. Also, I can’t wait for it to happen again for her to travel to...
Read moreActor's Craft is a phenomenal and highly recommended studio for taking regular valuable courses to hone your craft, but this review particularly pertains to the special workshops they occasionally put on - namely the recent "Meet the Agent" event featuring an established regional talent agent coming to present and answer questions.
The agent from the Chicago-based agency was so kind, helpful, clear, concise, honest, and transparent. Her truthful presentation about "what it takes" and "what they're looking for" was an immensely insightful session that you genuinely would not get anywhere else other than through Actor's Craft.
Maureen, the long-tenured, seasoned, experienced and visionary acting coach who has been around and knows many in the industry already (also the owner and primary instructor at Actor's Craft), utilized her connections and expertise to arrange the event, and she does things like this out of a deep desire to see young actors find a niche. Maureen is most assuredly dedicated to her students first and business second. It really shows!
The event was a hit, there wasn't an empty seat in the house, and valuable know-how and tips were shared in a personal, non-esoteric manner that made even the newest of actors feel comfortable, feel welcome, and feel that they have a chance. Actor's Craft is not only a place you can learn and feel comfortable doing so, but it's a place where you'll have opportunities that simply will not get anywhere else. Contact them today! You will...
Read moreAs a new actor, I wasn’t sure which technique or style to focus on at this stage in my journey, and I had never taken an acting class before. Actor’s Craft, conveniently located in downtown Kenosha, has a long and proud history of teaching and transforming actors like myself, and I’m so glad I took the Intro to the Chubbuck Technique course and later Audition Techniques.
Intro to the Chubbuck Technique helped me break down a script in a way that made sense, giving me the tools to explore different steps under the guidance of a formally trained instructor. Maureen’s attention to detail, ability to bring out the best in each of us, and wealth of industry experience made the learning process both insightful and inspiring. Her knowledge extends beyond the Chubbuck Technique, giving students a deep well of resources to draw from—both in class and beyond.
Building on Intro to the Chubbuck Technique, Audition Technique helped uncover the gems required for a successful audition which helps you get the gig in the first place. This focus was extremely insightful and I'm grateful for the class.
I highly recommend Maureen and Actor’s Craft as a safe, supportive, and essential stop on any actor’s journey, whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your craft. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the incredible classes offered at...
