I never write reviews, however I feel so disappointed that I wanted to share my experience. I normally enjoy this place. I went on a Thursday around 10:45 in the morning hoping it wouldn't be too busy. I had taken a day off work to have a special day with my 7 year old. When we got there, there were at least two open tables, however we were told we had to sit at the bar in the diner section because they didn't want to use a table for only two people. We were told that there weren't two seats together at the diner bar, so we would have to sit separately. Yes, my 7 year old and I were told we might have to sit separately. I asked if we could wait for a table and was told yes. We sat for 10 minutes staring at 2 open tables in the newer section of the restaurant. We were then brought back by a table that seats four. When I went to pull out a chair, I was told that we couldn't use that table because there were only two of us. I had misunderstood where we were being asked to sit. We were placed by the bar behind that table and across from the bathroom. We had an excellent view of everyone entering & exiting the restroom. I tried to still stay positive as this was a special day for me and my son. At one point, my son spilled his water. I grabbed napkins to clean it up. The server then came back & threw a roll of paper towels at me reprimanding me for using the stash of napkins on the bar saying they were "too expensive" to be using. She never stayed to help clean the spill. When our food came out, the order was wrong. A different server brought the order, and when I told her it was wrong, she sighed heavily and did not bother to apologize for the error. Being in the corner, we were rarely attended to except to hand us our food and then our bill. By far the worst experience I have had at any restaurant. I felt like they were annoyed that we were there. Please note that during all this, there were 5 tables that became empty while we sat at the bar (facing the restrooms) because just two people were not enough to warrant occupancy of a table. Food was ok. Normally I love their food, but I'm sure my experience tainted what otherwise would have been a great meal. Not sure if or when I will go back. If you are looking for great service, beware of this place. And don't go with just two people if you want a table. We should have just gone to McDonald's like my son had wanted. At least it would have been cheaper, and the service would have been better. I'm extremely disappointed. Time for us to find a new...
Read moreHave a back up order or two.
The Last five times I've come here I have had to change my order on the fly after ordering. I dont recommend trying for anything on the specials board. They've run out they will offer to cobble together stuff they do have and still charge you the special price. Then youll be lucky if you get that order correct anyways. I ordered their special today. They managed to tell me upfront they were out of blue cheese but then came back later and said they were also out of the special home made potato salad. Id asked for grilled onions and lettuce on my burger and did not receive either. Then got raw onions and lettuce dropped off at the table. At this point i just took what i got. Didnt see a waiter again until after the food was long finished.
I had a "free meal"(the ticket literally says free breakfast or lunch) ticket from the last time my order was made incorrectly and applied it to my tables meal. It didn't give a free meal. it just took about 5$ off the price of the bill.
I asked to speak with an owner or manager to try and talk about my recent experiences. I was told the manager had stepped out (its noon who leaves their store at lunch rush?) Then i was told i could leave my name and number. But was never given anything to write my name and number on. Then told "she will be right over" i waited another 10-15 minutes while hearing people discuss how i wanted to talk to a manager before i decided to carry on with my day just as they clearly were and left.
I used to like this place it used to be a quick little spot for a decent breakfast. Now its just a frustrating experience that I have little interest in ever returning to.
If your looking for an alternative, try franks. Its busy but the foods great, and they at least update their...
Read moreNo greeting upon walking in. Had to ask another patron where to go to get seated. When I did see two servers & asked how long it would be for a table of one. One responded, âWe donât have tables for one.â You can sit at the bar, but never explained where it was in the lower part. After I asked where it was, she pointed to it in the distance. The other server said that if one of the two tables opened up, I could sit there. It didnât look like they were going to open up anytime so I decided it would be best to find another establishment. As I was walking to the upper portion of the restaurant, I saw two small open tables that just needed to be cleared. I reproached the two servers & asked if I could sit at one of those two tables. One said, âIâll look after I get this order in.â But then the other said, we have to look because there is a list. List? No mention of that when we were looking for an open table. I was so taken back by the ignorance that I said I would take my business elsewhere because of the poor customer service. Didnât even seem like it bothered her. I wouldnât recommended this establishment unless you donât mind feeling disrespected. Maybe the food is fabulous, but I wouldnât know. I worked in the service industry for years. For me to take time to comment, it must have been a bad experience. I saw this quaint little diner & was looking forward to trying a new place in an unfamiliar location. The owners may want to address before staff offends more patrons. So...
