A Beach Lover's Paradise in Kenosha! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Simmon's Island Park is, without a doubt, Kenosha's crown jewel when it comes to beach destinations. I've visited this park countless times, and each visit leaves me with wonderful memories and a deep appreciation for its natural beauty. The beach here is simply spectacular. It's the largest in Kenosha, providing plenty of space for everyone to relax, play in the sand, or take a refreshing dip in Lake Michigan. The highlight of the park has to be the iconic North Pier Lighthouse, a picturesque sight that's a must-see for locals and visitors alike. Strolling along the pier as the waves crash against the rocks to the east is a truly serene experience. Simmon's Island Park is a hub for the young and young-at-heart, especially on warm summer nights. It's where the community comes together to enjoy the beach vibes, build sandcastles, and make lasting memories. The availability of bathrooms and playground equipment is a practical touch, ensuring convenience for families with kids. If you're planning a picnic, don't miss the charming picnic pavilion on the north end of the park. It's a perfect spot to enjoy a meal while surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature. And speaking of nature, the park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Mornings at Simmon's Island Park are a treat for birdwatchers, as the area teems with numerous birds and other wildlife. It's a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Sunrise seekers and sea glass collectors will also find their paradise here. Watching the sunrise over Lake Michigan is a magical experience, and the search for sea glass along the shore is like a treasure hunt that's both relaxing and rewarding. In summary, Simmon's Island Park is a slice of paradise right here in Kenosha. Whether you're a local looking for a fun hangout spot or a tourist seeking natural beauty and serenity, this park has it all. With its stunning beach, iconic lighthouse, family-friendly amenities, and abundant wildlife, it's a place that truly captures the essence of Kenosha's charm. I can't recommend it enough!

If you are looking for a nice place to swim, walk, or just take in the beauty of the Great Lake Michigan, this is the place! There are restrooms and a rinse station for when you are done in the sand. As well as plenty of photo opportunities with the Lighthouse at the point. We had a blast here swimming and playing in the waves. The water was cool, but not as cold as up north by Mackinac Bridge. The sand extends far into the water, so minimal rocks. We got away with being barefoot and went pretty far out.

It's a beautiful beach with lots of happening people around. The beach is also good. It has both sand and rock but I prefer to say it more sand beach. The water isn't so deep so good for kids. My 3 year and one year enjoyed in the tube 😁. They have parking structure and no entrance fee also. They have portable toilets. Playground is on process to be build. Siting area in the park for picnic. Overall a good place to visit not to crowded. Would love to visit next time soon.

Simmons Island Park is one of those places where Lake Michigan shows off its best side. Wide open views of the water, the historic lighthouse, and that breezy lakeshore atmosphere all come together to make it a perfect spot for both relaxation and photography.

The beach here is clean and spacious — in summer you’ll see families swimming, people picnicking, and kites flying against the horizon. In the quieter seasons, it turns into a peaceful, almost meditative place where you can watch the waves roll in and gulls circle overhead. The boardwalks and paths make it easy to stroll, and the lighthouse adds that postcard-perfect touch for anyone who loves history or photography.

There’s plenty of space to spread out, whether you’re into beach blankets and sunbathing or just sitting with a coffee and watching the lake. Parking is easy, and the park feels welcoming without being overdeveloped.

If you’re anywhere near Kenosha, Simmons Island Park is worth a stop. It’s one of those rare spots that feels equally good for a family day, a solo walk, or a quick photo adventure. Simple, beautiful, and...

Simmons Island was donated to the city by the family of Zalmon Simmons, founder of the Simmons Company, manufacturer of bedding and furniture. Originally called "First Island" and then "Washington Island", the Simmons family purchased most of the residences of the island and moved the houses elsewhere in the city. What remained was a rolling sandy island which had since been permanently connected to the mainland. During the Depression, the WPA improved the area: building the beach house and planting pilings out into the lake to catch sandy silt and build up the beach you see today. There aren't many great beaches on Lake Michigan, but this is one. Adjacent to the park is the Southport Light Station museum, open seasonally, and the Kenosha History Center, open to the public every...
