The Wyndham Garden Kenosha Harborside hotel is VERY SUBPAR. Where does one begin?
The entirety of the interior of the hotel is very outdated (decor, carpeting, furniture).
The fitness center has a limited number of pieces of exercise equipment, all of which are quite old and some of which do not work or work properly (the elliptical machine does not work properly and the recumbent bike does not allow for locking of the bike seat). Despite requesting two consecutive mornings last week from the front desk that a replacement water cooler be placed in the fitness center, the fitness center has been without water now for several days.
A complimentary breakfast is available every morning, but it’s literally the exact same items being provided every single day and I suspect that the three hot items (egg omelette, sausage, and rosemary potatoes) simply get reheated from morning to morning for God knows how long since they were originally prepared. The hot coffee is nothing more than flavorless brown-colored hot water.
Up until this morning when I checked-out much sooner than initially planned, I had been staying at the Wyndham Garden Kenosha Harborside hotel since late December, just days before New Year’s Eve (a roughly 7-weeks total stay).
On one occasion, housekeeping had entered my room and cleaned my room despite placement of the ‘do not disturb’ tag on the hallway-directed door handle.
On the one and only one occasion, specifically this past Friday (2/11) afternoon, when I specifically spoke to Marie of the front desk by phone and asked that my room be cleaned (to which I was informed that housekeeping had already left for the day and was told by Marie that housekeeping would clean my room the very next day [Saturday, 2/12]), I return to my hotel room on Monday morning after spending the weekend away in Chicago only to find that my room had not been entered into and was exactly as I had left it on Friday.
When I notified general manager Amar of this situation on Monday morning, also by phone, I was told that the room would get cleaned that day and that the front desk agent Marie would be spoken to and given a warning. I come to find out this (2/16) morning upon my check-out from the hotel, done with Marie at the front desk, that Amar had never spoken to her about the absence of the requested room cleaning service.
All the way around, a very disappointing hotel experience. I’m very glad I checked-out this morning and will be giving my business to a different local hotel for the remainder of my time here in Kenosha, WI (I should be in town for most of the next couple of months).
During the Winter season, when business, particularly the hospitality business is typically slow, one would think that a hotel having a long-term guest such as myself would do everything within its ability to make such a customer happy so as to not want to leave and thus cost the hotel the loss of significant potential revenue.
I strongly recommend NOT staying at this particular hotel if you’re going to stay in Kenosha, whether for a short period or on a...
Read moreHave I got a deal for you! Let me begin by making it clear I did not stay here but all boy did I have an experience. I had made a reservation and I had to cancel because I fell and broke my leg which is in a cast. I had planned on making a future reservation made February. I in fact canceled, however yesterday I received a notification telling me that we look forward to seeing you soon. I called Wyndham Rewards because I was using my random rewards account and they assured me that it had in fact been canceled. And then this morning I received another notification telling me that we look forward to seeing you soon. Obviously this is unusual but why would I create this scenario? And this is what I was accused of. I called the hotel directly instead of Wyndham customer care. I wanted to make sure that I was not going to be charged. I could not explain the situation to the woman who had answered the phone because she continuously interrupted me. I honestly do not remember the date of the original reservation. I don't store in my memory bank canceled reservation dates. The woman at the desk would not stop interrupting me and I finally asked if I could speak to somebody else. She informed me that no one else was there and I said not even the manager and she said no that she was working alone. I said well if I continue with what I am telling you will you please stop interrupting me so she hung up. Here is where it gets most interesting. I called and back immediately and a man answered which tells me obviously she lied. And it turned out this was a general manager who was worse than she. As I was explaining to him my frustration with her interrupting me he literally told me I was talking to the call center and not to anybody got the property. Isn't this interesting? I told him I knew I was talking to somebody there at the front desk and that she was rude and then he told me that he could hear me being rude. He told me he heard the conversation. Well then how is it possible did he heard this conversation if in fact it was taking place at the call center and not the hotel? I do not deny that it looks like a beautiful property and I had looked forward to staying their eventually but that's not going to happen. I would rather stay on the streets than to hand over my money to somebody to treat me rudely. Remember this folks. Would you spend your money to be treated rudely. This was an unbelievable experience with flat out lies. I told him I was going to write a Google review and he said go ahead and write a whole book. I do hope I don't get charged because it was canceled and he Eventually told me it was not in the system but something was wrong with the system somewhere. Folks if you were considering staying here proceed with caution and...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I planned a stay here (in early December) through a booking site, and were given a reservation for a King room. We were traveling for New Years to a nearby friends house who also lives locally and wanted a shorter drive distance. Check in was at 3pm. We waited 40 minutes to an hour to be checked in. Now, I have to give credit to the woman working the front desk, she was taking an extreme amount of verbal abuse from numerous clients checking in ahead of us. However (and not her fault I might add) we discovered soon why. The hotel had oversold their rooms. So instead of the King room which was reserved well in advance; we were given 2 queen beds instead. I am 6 ft 3, my significant other is 6ft, there's a reason we go out of our way ahead of time to reserve things for our comfort when staying somewhere. The resulting discomfort was exacerbated by the fact that some guests seemed to receive the room we had initially reserved, while others were upgraded to supposedly better accommodations. We stayed in Rm 520, the bathroom light would sporadically turn on and off with no rhyme or reason, which made it impossible to shower, or for my girlfriend to complete her makeup routine prior to leaving for our party. To compound, when going down for breakfast in the morning; our keycard no longer worked to enter back into the room. Seeing as I was fighting an up-hill battle with the sheer amount of upset people at the desk when I came down to address these concerns, I decided that a better idea would be to voice my concerns with the management after our stay had concluded. While the hotel's management offered a discount for a future stay and an upgrade on a lake-side room, this solution is impractical for us as local residents. Despite expressing our desire for a resolution related to the recent stay, we were met with a firm stance that no retroactive compensation could be provided. The lack of flexibility and understanding regarding the challenges we faced during our stay leaves us deeply dissatisfied. We had anticipated a comfortable and enjoyable experience, but unfortunately, the reality fell far short of our expectations.
I hope this review serves as constructive feedback and encourages the hotel to address the issues raised for the benefit of future guests. Additionally, I hope that the woman working the front desk during our check-in is commended for her commendable efforts in remaining calm and doing all she could under immense pressure. Her professionalism was notable during a...
