Being a non-resident, we arrived early so we could get a decent place to put our stuff and couldn't bc the Kettering residents are allowed to enter 30 min prior to everyone else along with pass holders. We stood in line for an hr in 90-degree weather. To pay $34 to use dirty bathrooms and sit on the ground to accommodate Kettering residents on a Saturday is ridiculous bc non residents can't enter the Reef water park on Sunday bc it's only for Kettering residents on Sunday. The pool was overly crowded and dirty with wads of hair floating and dead flies. Adult time in the pool wasn't adults' time bc nobody was making the kids get out . The life guards weren't doing anything but blowing whistles . Ppl was walking around arguing and fighting with each other, and that included a lifeguards friends. My daughter's clothes were stolen, and we didn't realize this until we were packing up to leave and bc the water park was closing for the day another fight happened at the fencing area so we was told to hurry up and leave. To be the only water park in the area, you would think more lawn chairs would be accessible to non residents, and ppl wouldn't have to be elbow to elbow in a swimming pool while even more ppl are allowed to enter the water park. I was told that the indoor pool was closed. I paid to enjoy the pool but instead mostly had to sit in the baking sun in the hot grass . Either expand your water park and make more accommodations for non residents or open up your indoor pool...
Read moreIm gonna be honest, I was excited to bring my kids here, and we did have a ton of fun, I do have some complaints about the lifeguards and the communication between them. They need to be trained on how to interact with children, none of them were friendly towards anyone they interacted with, they all had a straight face and an i don't want to be here attitude, also if a child is struggling to get to their mother after coming off the water slide, and your not paying attention to that, and I step onto the platform to get my child, I do not care if it says lifeguards only, you should probably just let me get my kid without getting an attitude with me over where I stepped. You weren't doing anything to help my kid, I was. The communication of if a child has a yellow wristband, they're good to go on the slides needs to be taught, my daughter was stopped by one of the lifeguards and was very upset that he did not let her on the slide after she had been on them the whole time we were there, her father had to go over and say something to him and he had no idea what the yellow wristband meant. My other daughter was also made to take off her silicone bracelets after the other lifeguards had already said that silicone bracelets and hair ties were fine to wear on the slide, it just seemed like not all of them knew what was what and which rules were rules. It was completely different from lifeguard to lifeguard. Other than those few minor incidents, we had...
Read moreI'm so sad I feel the need to get on here and leave a bad review. I hope it will help push management to get things under control so I can give a better rating later.
I've been going to the rec outdoor pool for many years. After today, I will be going elsewhere.
Aside from the ridiculous line to get in because they made one side pass holders only this year, the pools were surprisingly bug-filled and dirty. But I brushed all that off; maybe it was just a busy day.
What finally got me fed up was the constant line-cutting at all the slides, the absolute lack of discipline for misbehaving teenagers, and the HOARDS of kids in the pool during adult swim. The lifeguards are clearly not trained well and did not know how to get control of any situation. There were kids flipping over toddlers and causing a lot of safety issues, with nothing but a faint whistle blown at them over and over.
Somebody is going to get seriously hurt there and sue the rec. I'm glad I won't be there to see it happen.
They need to train their guards better and get a handle on that place, or it'll only get worse. The amount of parents I saw outraged and talking to lifeguards who just nodded their heads and moved on was so disappointing. 😔 I even saw two lifeguards yelling at each other over a situation!
The guards at other pools I have visited are super on top of it and don't tolerate anything like what I saw today at the...
