I don’t typically write reviews, especially negative ones. I work in public service, and I deeply respect and empathize with how difficult service jobs can be. I’m patient, kind, and understanding, especially with wait staff. But the experience I had with my family on the evening of April 9, 2025, at Condado Tacos at The Greene was so upsetting and, frankly, discriminatory, that I feel compelled to speak up.
My husband, mom, daughter, and I arrived around 7 PM. There was no signage indicating whether to wait to be seated, and no staff in sight to clarify. It was our first time there, and the atmosphere felt casual, so we cautiously seated ourselves while continuing to look for guidance. Eventually, we identified two individuals who, though unidentifiable as employees due to their plain clothing and lack of acknowledgment, kindly told us it was no problem and brought over a high chair for our toddler, placing it at the end of the table, as is common practice in most restaurants.
Shortly after, a woman, who we later learned was the manager, Brooke Rybicki, began walking by our table repeatedly, casting unmistakable, hostile looks toward me and my child. My husband, a detective, immediately picked up on her body language: sighs, eye rolls, and facial expressions filled with clear disdain. We could tell she was upset that the high chair was partially in the aisle, despite the fact that her own staff had placed it there and there was still adequate room to walk by.
She eventually approached and, though polite in tone, insisted we move the chair. While feeding a toddler from the side, parallel to them, is difficult (any parent knows this), the way she handled the situation made us feel targeted and unwelcome. Things escalated when a friend stopped by our table briefly. I stepped into a more open area to speak with him, and again, her glare was so pointed and inappropriate that my husband, who rarely shows discomfort, was visibly unsettled.
Then came the food. Mine was hot, my mom’s was barely warm, and my husband’s was ice cold, literally refrigerator-cold. Our waiter, Alex, was fantastic. Kind, apologetic, and genuinely professional. We made it clear to him that he had done nothing wrong and kindly asked if we could speak to the manager. We all witnessed him relay the message directly to Brooke. She walked past our table twice without acknowledging us, then finally returned and said, “Do you guys need anything over here?”, despite knowing exactly why we’d asked to speak with her.
When my husband told her his food was cold and asked if it was supposed to be that way, she gave an evasive and dismissive answer, stating “yes and no” and suggesting the toppings had cooled the food stating “it’s only hot for so long.” We’re adults, we understand how temperature works. The meat itself was ice cold. She did eventually have it remade, but the attitude and energy remained dismissive and passive-aggressive.
What’s worse is that we were the only interracial family and only people of color in the restaurant at the time. I hate to assume motives, but there was no other clear reason for the repeated coldness and glares we received from Brooke. Maybe it was because we sat ourselves, maybe she doesn’t like kids, but I left that restaurant with the overwhelming feeling that we were treated differently, and that treatment felt rooted in bias.
We paid our tab, thanked Alex for his incredible service, and left quietly. But I want to be clear: if you are a person of color, have young children, or are in an interracial family, you may want to think twice before dining at this Condado location. No one should be made to feel unwelcome or scrutinized because of who they are or who they’re with.
Shame on this establishment for allowing such behavior in a leadership position. Condado, do better. Your guests deserve far more than what we...
Read moreHubby was in the mood for tacos. And instead of our usual, I suggested we come here for their opening day. And for being the first day, they had things pretty much down pat! It’s a great space with seating indoors and out on the patio. I loved sitting near the patio to enjoy the breeze. We were seated quickly and our waiter was attentive. My only complaint is that the kitchen took a little longer with some things than with others - nachos came out fast, but my son’s order of rice was the last thing to arrive. So things were a little inconsistent there.
We started with the nachos - no rice or beans, mixed meats chicken and steak. As soon as it was in front of us we asked for an extra side of queso because we can never get enough. And I would argue these nachos did need a bit more cheese. But the amount of delicious corn salsa and the amount of meat was pretty darn generous. The chicken was what the waiter suggested. And he was absolutely right in that it did have much more flavor than most other places I ever get nachos. BUT, the steak was SO PERFECT that the chicken didn’t matter. We will probably never order the chicken again because this steak STOLE THE SHOW! I get nervous with steak because there usually ends up being too much fat and it’s not seasoned enough. Nope. Not here. There was no fat. Zero. I didn’t have one awkwardly chewy bite. I fact, it was completely tender and had been cut in just the right way - you could pull it apart with your fingers! To make things even better? So much flavor!!! Woah. Just woah. I’m drooling right now just thinking about it.
We also ordered three tacos - Sweet Heat, The Heater and Blue Dream. Hubby wasn’t crazy about the jicama slaw on The Heater, but I actually thought it was nice (definitely different, though, and might not be your thing). My favorite was definitely Blue Dream. I loved the double shell (soft and hard), the crunchy shell was cool ranch (so good!), the ground beef was super flavorful with a little heat at the back which was calmed by the avocado ranch sauce.
Seriously, y’all. I can’t...
Read moreWent here for dinner with my boyfriend this evening, his first time trying the place. The place was very messy, no one was cleaning tables. They had to clean an area before we could sit (it was not busy & they looked to have about 4 servers). While were there no dirty tables around us were cleaned, they just sat dirty. We ordered chips & queso which came way before our drinks. I ordered 3 tacos and everyone of them was wrong ( I ordered all of them with no onions). 2 were supposed to have cilantro & queso, as described on the menu and didn't. The 3rd taco had huge onions on it. I waited for a very long time for Hayley to come back so that I could have my order corrected. She didn't apologize she simply said "so, we need queso & cilantro for those 2 & another 1 of those with no onions". Mind you we talked about neither myself or boyfriend eating onions and specified several times, no onions. I told my boyfriend to go ahead and eat because I didn't want his food to get cold. By time my corrected items arrived and new taco he was finishing up his meal. I was offered no real apologies for this inconvenience, nor was I offered a discount in any capacity. The taco that was made new, still had a huge onion on it! Extremely, disappointed experience. Will not be returning to this location. With tip spent $54, I never tip less than 20% even if it's a bad experience. The servers arent making the food, some people have off days, lots of people are in tip pools, etc. I get all of that, but know when to be apologetic & how to resolve issues, efficiently & make things right for...
