Where to begin? Had reservation for SpeakEasy. Wait staff was one person and a manager/owner running around doing other things. Sat at the bar where there was a dirty plate, glass and utensil’s directly in front of me that noone acknowledged and just left sitting there for several minutes as we ordered our drinks and talked for a few minutes. We did get first round of drinks quickly. All the while we were at the bar no-one was acknowledging us and checking back. My glass went empty and asked owner for a refill and he said “she’ll get it”. She said, “Let me finish what Im working on first”. Waited around 5 minutes. Why couldnt the owner have refilled my drink? It would have taken him less than a minute; especially since he was standing right there behind the bar. After she finished whatever it was that she was doing, she got the others in the party their second round timely enough. Rest of party showed and we ordered food. The fried pickles were good but everything else was subpar with almost no effort at all to make any of it delicious. My burger was served plain with no mayo, lettuce and tomato (of which I had previously ordered) and it was dry to the point of if I had thrown it at someone it would have hurt them. Anyway, got our checks and every single check was scrambled with the wrong items. The waittress ran back and forth a few times and finally got 7 of the 8 checks correct. The 8th check still had someone else’s drink order on it so I just paid it to finally be able to get out of there. Ive tried to patronize this place 3 different times now and each time has been a disappointment. The lack of service to the customer, attention to detail and follow through will sink a restaurant fast. I do hope this review helps them realize they need to work on their detail to customer service and food presentation. I really hope...
Read moreThis was my second time into Rum Runners, my husband and I had previously been in shortly after they had opened. I am attributing that experience to opening "jitters" as we decided to come back as we really did love the fried pickles appetizer and wanted to give this one more go. I am so glad we did, this time it was a wonderful experience for the both of us.
We started off with the fried pickle appetizer, of course, which we demolished, I apologize for the lack of photo on that. You'll have to take my word on it, this is really worth coming for! That batter is amazing. I ordered the busted Al Capone burger, spiced with a side salad with raspberry vinaigrette on the side. The burger came out and was quite large, I had to cut it in half and take the other half home to be quite honest. I do warn you, its a very messy burger, eat with caution. They toasted the bun perfectly, and the ratio of bun to meat was on point. The salad was a nice sized side salad for only a very small extra fee, which I thought was nice.
My husband got the Busted Gloria de Cesares, spiced with fries. He thoroughly enjoyed his sandwich this time. He said the chicken was juicy and tasted great! The BBQ sauce and that spice really made the sandwich. His fries were crispy and tasted great.
The atmosphere is really neat, a prohibition era feel to it complete with music. Our server was even dressed to fit the theme and was super cute! The decor was lovely, though I admit the booths are super tight, if you are a person of size. I dont typically ever have issues with booths and these were a bit tight here. There are tables available fyi.
We will...
Read moreGreat atmosphere! The menu may seem like it's limited, but really it's not. Fried pickles are great. Potato entrée is a large portion of food. Burgers and sandwiches are very well made and diverse. Flavored Italian soda is a unique touch to the beverage menu. SPICED sandwiches does not mean they are spicy! It means the meat actually has some flavor so definitely get your sanwich SPICED! Greeted by one of the owners during our dine in experience and he was very nice and thankful for our visit. Server had a great attitude and demeanor. Love the 1920s gangster theme. The bar/party area looks really interesting and would consider using it for a special occasion. It'll be interesting to see how the place develops in the coming months as they gather new ideas. 4 of us ordered 4 entrees, 2 appetizers, and 4 fountain drinks and the bill before tip was under $90. For the quality and amount of food I felt that was fair; 3 of us took leftovers home. We will definitely be back with new friends/family. Oh yeah, everything we ordered tasted great, had great presentation, and was reasonably priced for this type of restaurant. Definitely recommend. Only suggestion I can make is maybe eliminate one of the booths to allow all the other booths to have a little more room. If that's the worst thing about this place you have a hit on your...
