Has a nice clean storefront and a fantastic selection of magic cards, Pokémon, and yugiho as well as sporting a wide variety of trading card accessories and games of the virtual and physical. The reason I've given this business one star (and from reading the other reviews I'm sure to get a response from the owner lol) is the staff. Although I don't know the owner or have met him in the store they seem to be completely reasonable and competent. The opposite can be said of those he employs. My biggest problem with stores like these is the staff is usually unprofessional and act in a clique-like way. Just a general feeling of unfriendless and unprofessionality from most (not all) but most of the employees at this store, more often than not if you approach an employee at this store they never seem happy or excited to help you, rather they seem upset that you're even talking to them. One specific example I can recall is going in one day looking for some magic cards, being an eternal format player my cards are often high dollar items, and the store was for the most part empty. A single employee at the desk, a man whose name I cannot remember unfortunately, was going through three large stacks of yugihuo cards, it appeared another customer was trying to trade them into the store. The employee asked me if I needed any help and I told him I was looking for two magic cards. He told me that he was helping a customer and that it would take a minute. I responded that that was fine and I proceeded to wait. I then continued to wait for 15 minutes while the employee continued to go through these giant stack of cards that the other customer was trying to trade in. My problem with this situation is if you are the only employee in the store and someone comes in with an entire youghuio collection for you to shift through and look up prices for then it should be understood by both the employee and the customer himself that the employee may have to stop and help other customers in between. Any other card store I go to, that would be absolutely inexcusable to ignore and let paying customers pile up waiting while you shift through hundreds of cards. I'm sorry but it was just completely unacceptable, I left and took my business elsewhere. Specifically, Epic Loot who out of all the game stores in the Dayton area have THE MOST professional staff, they also have just as good of a storefront. I do not work for or own any share of epic loot, I'm just a customer that has had consistently good business transactions with which I judge every other game/comic store in the area by. In conclusion, I suggest to the owner that although you may be friends with some of your employees or they may be knowledgeable of the game, there are far more competent and friendly people that you can hire to do the work. Do not bother responding, no words or specific actions will change my review. I have recently started playing modern and have lifted my self imposed exile from this store in order to participate in their modern events although I will say that I will not be purchasing any cards or accessories from them for the time being. I will be willing to change this review if I see that the staff's attitude becomes more professional and friendly as I continue to visit for modern. But as of my last visit I still just felt unwelcome as if I was a bother to...
Read moreWas just in today to look at some Pokemon and Force of Will cards with my friend, about 4 to 5 workers were in the store, all in back except for one of them. Took about 4 minutes to get someone to help us, and then he yelled for someone else to come out of the back to help us. When we asked him to look at cards for Force of Will game and Pokemon we got the response of. "You cannot look thru them, but if you know what you want I can see if we have it". I just started playing Force of Will so I cant name lots of cards at all. We then asked if he could stand there for a few minutes to let us look thru them and we go the wonderful response of" That would be a waste of my time, cause Im processing last nights online orders, and would take too much of my time" My friend responded with isn't that what you get paid to do is help customers? I don't like getting into little tiff's in stores, but holy hell. He also said theft is a big issue, hmmm Ok ,I can see theft being a issue in a gaming store for sure, no doubt about that. But don't have cards on display not in cases that a person cant look thru at all, Like I said I just just got into the game, literary yesterday. I was at Epic Loot the day before and bought $82.67 worth of cards from singles and packs. And my friend wanted to check y'all out also, so here we are in your store. I was going to buy 2 boxes of booster packs that I saw you had for Force of Will that were a little over $90.00 each, and were about $15 dollars cheaper than Epic loot and my friend was going to purchase a $8.00 Pokemon card and the Sailor Mars Figure on the wall which was $89.00, and your Lion-O and snarf figure set which I think was around $45 to $50 if I remember correctly. So thanks to your HORRIBLE customer service, you lost about $350.00 today, I like supporting local business when I can, but I will never come back here again. I'll get what I need from Epic Loot, and The Game Haven, they might cost a little bit more, but they have much WAY BETTER customer service!! Also Amazon sells cards cheaper then you do, I think I might just go ahead and buy those boxes right now from them. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! if anyone sees this don't go here, spend your money online or go to a store that actually cares that you are frequenting...
Read moreI had very high expectations for this location, especially since I’ve had positive experiences at the owner’s other shop in the mall. The original 151 embodies what a card shop should be: simple, welcoming, and customer-focused. Unfortunately, this location doesn’t measure up in one critical area—customer service.
I’ve visited this store three times, hoping to find specific cards and packs for my collection. Each visit has left me with reasons not to return. While the store itself is well-organized and visually appealing, the attitude and behavior of the staff behind the counter are the real issues.
Each time I’ve approached the counter, it feels as though I’m interrupting the staff rather than being welcomed as a valued customer. This dismissive attitude is off-putting and, frankly, a dealbreaker. When I’ve asked questions about products, their responses have been short, unhelpful, and often delivered with a smirk, giving the impression that they don’t want to be bothered.
For example, during my most recent visit, I was with my significant other looking for cards to add to our collection and some packs. When we asked to see a specific card, the staff initially obliged and showed it to us. However, when I inquired about a particular set of packs, their response was dismissive. Without even turning around to check, they curtly claimed they didn’t have any, and their tone was contradictory and unprofessional.
Overall, while this store has potential, the poor customer service has consistently detracted from the experience. A card shop should make its customers feel welcome and valued, but this location falls short. Until there’s a noticeable improvement in how the staff treats patrons, I cannot recommend this store, especially when compared to the excellent experience offered at the...
