Coastal Farm & Ranch — Attraction in Klamath Falls

I wouldn't even give them a one-star. I showed up Christmas Eve about 10 minutes before closing 4:50 pm. Went to go inside and was met by a guy named Tim who said that the store was closed and he was not letting people in. I knew exactly what I wanted, which was one of the go-kart Jeeps right up front. I asked him if I could buy one really quick? He said NO! I then said your not going to let me spend 2700 dollars really quick?" He said NO! I understand that it was late on Christmas Eve, and everyone wants to go home. What I don't understand is why every time I go to this store, the staff is always rude. I don't understand why a retail store is pushing people away before their closing hours. I don't understand why thir not jumping at the opportunity to get rid of inventory they have been sitting on for at least 3 months. I didn't need help loading it or an extended warranty, I just needed the bar code to go and pay for it and for it to be unlocked and pushed out front. Not only has this store lost a 2700 sale when the things are only 1600 on line. They lost a family of customers for a lifetime. My family and I just moved to the area and we do most of our shopping there. (close, livestock food, things for our farm, guns excerta) And I tell you every time, the people there get worse. Almost like the more money you spend, the worse you're treated. I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears like most things, so I guess I'll just stick to shopping at Amazon. it's no wonder these kinds of stores are suffering. GOOD DAY...

Lots of staff chatting but not eager to engage customers. Told to wait for someone to go out in the yard to look at wire fencing. 10 minutes and no show. Went out there without escort and found someone to ask about coated wire and he actually told me that they were out of stock (obviously) and were waiting for a truck but didn’t know when it would arrive. He said “you know how that goes”. Spent my career in big box retail and the lack of service was appalling! A simple look up in the store system would reveal an ETA but they were too lazy and lacking in service skills to try and help me buy from them. Not many options in Klamath for this type product but Amazon has it. Would love to buy local but I will not be back to Coastal!

UPDATE: Received a call from customer relations the next day. They were quite concerned and asked for specifics like time and where in the store this encounter had taken place. About two hours later the District Manager called and asked for even more specifics and promised retracing and/or disciplinary action would be taken. Apologies and the like were expressed.

Bottom line is that it appears Coastal is committed to acting on customer feedback and improvement of the retail experience in their stores. In light of this experience I am raising my rating to three...

They have warm bodies working here. I confirmed with the cashier twice, they did not have any coastal pellets. She wouldn't even check. So I bought the more expensive ones. When I drove to the back, there were at least 30 plus tons of coastal pellets. I told the forklift driver what happened and I was headed for my refund. Got inside to see 6 people in 1 line. No backup and the lady could not find an item for the 1st person so the line hadn't moved for 5 minutes. I just left with the more expensive ones and told the forklift driver to get more help. He said they have been trying. It has to be a management issue! I also needed another item and I had to lookup the sku online because the cashier was not trained on how to look up items. Frustrating but not really another option in this town. Grange isn't any better. I asked 3 workers in the store trying to find an item. 1 person pointed in the general direction and never moved. Another did the same thing and went back to stocking shelves. Third person said find a certain person and ask them. Eventually found that person and they showed me where the empty bin was at. I ended up leaving and purchasing the item at home depot for less money. Wish we had better options...
