Berkshire Park is the worst apartment complex. Berkshire Park and the ones who own it only care about money. They don't care about you at all.
They never told me when I viewed the apartment that they have a 2,500 fee to leave this place if I'm not happy or I need to move on before my lease is up. That's right. You heard me right. Berkshire Park will charge you a $2,500 fee if you need to cancel your lease before your lease is up. No one here told me that.
If you cancel your lease before it's up you pay a fee of 2,500 plus the additional 3x months rent on top of Berkshire Parks 2,500 fee. I paid the lowest at the time for rent 1,265 a month times x3 plus Berkshire Parks 2,500 fee and that's $6,295 dollars before Berkshire Park will let you move out. They will go after you for that money if you refuse to pay them. Other apartment complex only ask for 2x or 3x the rent without an additional fee. Not Berkshire Park, they mandatory and predatory charge you the additional 2,500 fee to make you pay them even more and make it even more difficult for you just so they can prevent you from leaving this place! Horrible!
Berkshire Park also (although again no one here told me this when I viewed the apartment) they want you to give them a 60 day notice if you don't want to renew your lease for another year. And if you don't give Berkshire Park a 60 day notice to vacate Your apartment, Berkshire Park will slap you with another Fee! Simply because you didn't Give them a 60 day notice. More Money for Berkshire Park. Totally Ridiculous.
Berkshire Park also continued to charge me electric for a month I Wasn't even there. HVAC turned Off for 4 months. And Berkshire Park illegally continued to charge Me for electric almost 200 dollars when I didn't even Live in the apartment and the HVAC was turned off and no Water. Berkshire Park Still charged me.
Berkshire Park also let's a certain demographic sit in the stairwell On the steps so you can't even Walk to your apartment on the 2nd floor or 3rd floor without Having to ask people to move Or say excuse me. They will Literally sit on the steps blocking Your movement. And they won't Move out of your way. Or barely Will move so that you can walk Past them to get to your Apartment. This is a frequent Problem here. People sitting On the steps eating, drinking And dancing.
Berkshire Park lets guest or Tenants in groups of 7 to 10 In the parking lot dancing Eating and screaming at their Cars for hours just hanging out Running all over the parking lot Loitering. Not to mention the kids Who run around to every Apartment building here and Knock on your door and run away. So many issues here. (They have NO cameras in any of the outside Hallway buildings) frequent problems.
Berkshire Park has roaches and bugs.
Berkshire Park parking is horrendous. They will run a Background check on one Tenant and those tenants will Have many people living with Them. So the parking here is Horrendous and not enough to Go around with all the extra People living in the units who Are not even on the leases. You barely can find a place to Park after 6. Very limited.
When Berkshire Park allows you to view an apartment, it's not the same layout as the apartment you sign with your lease. The layout will be different. My apartment was 1520-304 and was totally different from the one I viewed or I wouldn't have signed the lease. This place is a total joke. They won't let you view your actual apartment you are signing the lease on. It's not ready. So they show you a different one and say it's the same but different layout. So then it's not the same. I wanted the apartment layout I viewed not the backwards layout.
I hope this helps give you some insights of what your about to sign up...
Read moreWe have lived here 1 month... so hopefully over the next 11 months I will be persuaded to increase my rating, but for now it's a solid 1 star.
The GOOD: Our 2 bed/2 bath apartment is spacious and nice.
We do really love the space, especially the kitchen which is the largest apartment kitchen I've ever had.
I love my garden tub.
The BAD: Maintenance sucks. Seriously. When we moved in the microwave didn't work. We put in a request and 10 days later still didn't have a replacement. After making 3 separate trips to complain we were finally given a countertop model to use until they replaced the overhead. 3 days later they finally replaced it but left the countertop model for another 2 days. Over 2 weeks for a microwave?! Pretty sure you can rebuild a car engine faster.
They also like to leave a note letting you know they are coming to do some sort of maintenance (filters, sprinklers, etc) but dont show up until 3 days later.... Rather inconvenient when they expect that you keep pets contained but dont show up when they are supposed to. I think my animals have been crated 3 of the 4 weeks we have lived here- they don't like it and neither do I.
The water pressure... it's terrible. Dishwasher and washing machine take forever to run and heaven help you if you have thick hair- you'll never get the shampoo out.
Not a fan of the "included entertainment package." Internet is decent and channels are okay but for the $117 required addition to the rent it's totally not worth it. Also, you cant use the Spectrum app to watch on your phone because you don't have an individual login as it's a community account. A 3 hour phone call with customer service tonight confirmed it's a known issue.
The UGLY: While we have met some really nice neighbors the community itself is unpleasant, uncomfortable and not family friendly. Though children are supposed to be 15 years old to be alone at the pool there are young teenagers there alone each day; their language and actions are rough but the older teenagers are worse. There is no reason we should have to explain 4-letter words to our 7 year old after visiting the pool. A neighbor told us that last week the rowdy teenagers picked up their child in the pool and threw them without consent. There is no supervision and no consideration. The same behaviors happen in the corridors frequently in the afternoons, with the added joy of having a trail of trash left behind. I've picked up more popsicle wrappers this month than I've ever seen before.
For almost $1200 per month I expect to enjoy where I live. We have complained 3 times about the atmosphere at the pool yet nothing changes. We were advised to call the courtesy officer if this happened again- at the next occurrence we called and left a message. We remained at the pool for another hour and a half and no one arrived. We were informed by another tenant that the courtesy officer lives in their building and is the owner of the obnoxious motorcycle that drives too loud and too fast at all hours of the day and night- we dont anticipate much assistance from this individual if this is true.
As much as we like our living space, the past month has been a generally miserable experience. Knightdale is growing and more communities are under construction. If things don't change, we will be leaving as soon as possible- and I'm certain many others...
Read moreOrdinarily, I place a post & move on, however this managers follow up to my visit was so unprofessional…I received a call of apology from the leasing professional who asked me to come by so she could undo the bad taste left by my first experience. I agreed and she showed me around…during our tour, I mentioned that I hoped that no one got into any hot water after my post; she said “well I kinda did but it’s ok, because it helps me to be better”. I stoped dead in my tracks and asked - WHY WOULD YOU HAVE GOTTEN INTO ANY TROUBLE AT ALL, you were not even there when I stopped in!!??!!?? She looked as surprised as I sounded, she said ,are you sure? I shared with her that “the person in the office on the day I came by was a Caucasian female w/ dark hair, so unless you can change your race/ethnicity at will, it was NOT YOU!” My adult daughter happened to be with me on this 2nd visit and she is not one to hold her tongue! She said to our leasing agent “it sounds to me like your manager threw you under the bus and let you think it was all on you and you weren’t even in the building! We thanked this very sweet young lady and left. The following day, I received a missed call then an answered call from manager who wanted to personally let me know that my application had been denied…Shocker🤣!!! My application at a much nicer property had already been accepted, sure I had to pay a partial deposit, but BP didn’t even offer that. I can honestly say I’d have not chosen the BP property even though it was more convenient. Who wants to live in a place where the leadership cannot accept ownership of his or her own mistakes. BTW…the leasing agent quit, our tour was her last one!
No one acknowledged my presence when I dropped by for a visit. I waited for ten minutes, no one even said “I’ll be right with you” or anything. As a former Assistant Manager of a 400+ property, our team always greeted guests, even to let hem know…hey we see you give us a moment….something. But this lady….even when her prospect left to get her ID out of the car, the leasing agent could’ve used that opportunity to let me know they were aware of my presence. I gave them a second chance and scheduled a virtual tour; surprise! No call at the designated time. Stick me with a fork, I am done! For some people, Customer Service...
