PostModern Spirits — Attraction in Knoxville

This place is open of the best distilleries I have been to in a long time. The staff is super nice and knowledgeable. The spirits are great and they have a lot of unique flavors, and the authmosphere is really super cool.

We tried a couple of different drinks, and I really enjoyed the New Fashioned, it is a nice twist to the Old Fashioned which is one of my fav ‘go to’ drinks. My wife really enjoyed her drink for two reasons. One she choose a drink that tasted delicious, and second she considers it a big win, when she gets a drink in a fancy glass.

The bartenders are just awesome. They are very nice and talkative (in a good way). One of my favorite things to ask when we are in places that serve cocktails is to ask what is their ‘signature drink’ that they know how to make. She did NOT disappoint me at all. It was so good (and spicy) that i asked her to write it down so we can enjoyed it at another time.

The place is also vegan. When i told my friend he was confused, as i was, until we asked more details. Well all their products are vegan which means they have alternatives. Once such product was a egg free foam, which is great as my wife is egg intolerant. It is a bit pricy, but awesome that they have other alternatives if you are unable to have the ‘real thing’.

We all really enjoyed this place and will def go back again…well maybe because feels like we purchased...

Great drinks, great environment, nice outdoor seating, mostly good staff.

The other night one staff member with pink hair was exceptionally rude and disrespectful. She stood behind the bar and did nothing (literally, nothing. Would not even look us in the eye) while her coworker helped the half a dozen people waiting. She started closing the outside seating before 1030 on a Friday while it was busy and a bunch of people still had drinks in their hands. Post closes at 11 on Fridays. She was snappy, told us to get up and that they’re were closing early, and literally took the chairs out of under people. It was really weird and rude. There were still a bunch of people inside the bar getting drinks and sitting outside with drinks in hand. I asked her a question and she completely ignored me. I didn’t see her make a drink the entire night I was there. I didn’t see her speak to any of the customers. Not sure why she’s a staff member, honestly. Generally the crew there is really fun, a lot of the girls are great to chat with.

It’s a great bar, great drinks, and generally very pleasant staff and environment. Five stars except for the lady...

I really want to love this place. I can't think of another local distillery I've been to that creates almost every classic liquor genre. The alpino and wormwood are particularly good and the fernet is very memorable. Not everything quite works of course, and the gins and whisky contain a fusel oil or other distillation byproduct I find noticeably distracting. But temper your expectations and treat the tasting room as a tasting room, or as a very experimental cocktail lounge. It's a great idea to have a distillery make every ingredient--it also allows you to get around the usual liquor laws. PM gives it a really good run, but there's no way to compete with a dedicated cocktail bar. But as a tasting room or experimental cocktail bar, it's magical. Some drinks are genuinely excellent--the Terry's martini is a winner--while others, like the gin fizz, are genuinely weird.
