First, my friend and I had a good time. We caught some fun "evidence" and enjoyed the storytelling/history of Knoxville. It's really a decent night out, but not without some major gaps.
The actual investigative work was subpar. It's hard to be "in the moment" because you are amongst the business of Knoxville the entire time. None of it is indoors so you are surrounded by the lights and loud sounds the entire time.
The evidence had a huge question mark all night. A lot of equipment used interacts with electricity/energy. The entire time you are surrounded by the massive buildings of Knoxville, phones, street lights, cars, underground electricity, etc.
You don't get to use the equipment much. Right when you get into some evidence that raises your curiosity, you move to the next "ground zero" as they call it. Majority of it is the tour guide talking about the history of Knoxville, which was cool, but I'm not sure I'd consider this my idea of a "haunted" tour. It was more of a "historical" tour.
The cancellation process is only beneficial for the company. As mentioned in other reviews, if you come from out of town, make sure the weather is good before you purchase your tickets. If the tour is cancelled, you ARE NOT refunded. You have to reschedule for another date. If you have no plans to return to Knoxville in the near future, you are out money. Though the policy is posted on their website with full honesty, it is not a consumer friendly policy.
I really think this company could use some humility in listening to its consumers. Very friendly staff, but not to flexible in their policies. In other reviews, you can see a constant defense and reasons why the customer is wrong and the company is justified in the negative reviews. They can be a little rude and the guide talked about himself a lot. The guide "autographed" our lanyards at the end, which I found odd because I don't know who he was. Great company's take the feedback of customers to improve their experience. I think they could benefit from this advice. It seems they get a little "offended" from bad reviews to protect image.
it's not a terrible company, but one that could be improved if they listen to their consumers. If you go with the right people it can still be a fun time, just not very immersive in my opinion. I think a lengthy indoor investigation surrounding 1 "ground zero"...
Read moreBEWARE THIS ORGANIZATION We had purchased our tickets for this Haunted Knoxville Ghost Tour over 90 days in advance but the tour company cancelled the event due to poor weather conditions with less than 2 hours' notice. The tour was scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM and we were notified of the cancellation via text message at 5:13 PM. Then they WOULD NOT REFUND the ticketing price, only offering a "raincheck" for future use!!! Tried for over a week to contact them via telephone and text message, with no response. We are tourists from out-of-state and have no immediate plans to return to Knoxville to take this tour, nor would I ever do so given this situation. I have been forced to dispute the charges with my credit card issuer. BEWARE THIS ORGANIZATION
Response to Owner: Dear Sir, I understand and appreciate that you are not in control of the weather, nor do I debate your choice to cancel our tour given the conditions. Our tour was scheduled for 7:00-9:30 PM for 10/30/2021 and your cancellation text notification shows a 5:13 PM timestamp [see attached screenshot]. My contention is that while "All Sales are Final" is binding should your ticketed guests not be able to attend. However, if YOU cancel the event the ticket price should be refunded without question or hesitation. Not doing so is just a BAD BUSINESS practice that your potential guests need to...
Read moreWe were very excited about the tour when we booked it. I gave it two stars because it is a unique tour, but the experience itself was not worth the hassle or the money. First, they emailed us to reschedule from Friday to Saturday due to inclement weather. This was highly inconvenient because we were only in town a couple days and had plans throughout, but they offered no refunds so we begrudgingly rescheduled to the following night, even though the weather was gorgeous. Then! During our Saturday night tour, the guide spoke frequently about how much better the tour was the night before.. so that was very annoying. We got a miniscule amount of history, but an hour and a half explanation of the tools that we only got to use for a total of 15 minutes that night. He gave us a flashlight that didn't work, but we were never provided another. We altogether got more insight on the guides accolades and expertise than any good information on ghosts or the city; he often interrupted the guest with the spirit box so we never even got that full experience. Also, for whatever reason, he was...
