I went to watch the play SWEAT and it was fantastic. The actors were incredible and the atmosphere was great. The Executive Director came out before the show and talked to us (the audience), sharing a little about the play and the Performing Arts Center as well. There were also options for beverages. The main room was very clean. They put down white strips on the stairs so it was easier to see each step, even in dim light. They also let us know that there would be cigarettes smoked in the performance so we could seat ourselves accordingly if that would bother us. One thing that really impressed me was their gratitude, not just for the audience but also the space. They added a note at the beginning of the playbill that said, "We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is the unceded territory of the Yuchi and Cherokee People. We offer our gratitude for the land itself, and the Indigenous people that stewarded it for generations." While this is only my first time visiting, I cannot wait to go back. I highly recommend supporting River & Rail Theatre Company and Old City Performing Arts Center.

I recently saw a production of "The Burn Vote" at the old city performing arts Center. The burn vote is a moving and informative musical about Tennessee's fight for women's suffrage, and is a must-see. The play uses humor and powerful performances to tell the story of Harry Burn, the young legislator whose vote sealed the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Standout performances by John Guerrasio and Emma Tate make the emotional stakes of the play even higher. Don't miss this chance to learn about a pivotal moment in American history while enjoying a beautiful musical performance.

A small theater company with big dreams and great heart. Only just celebrating their 10th year, River& Rail Theater purchased the former ice factory and turned the Old City Performing Arts into a magical place with every production created. See the building, but follow the theater. River& Rail: a theater company that isn't afraid to take a bold leap.

Saw the Kingston Trio there last night. The show was fantastic. I think the band had just as good of time as the audience, even though it was the final show of 70 for them on their east coast tour. The venue staff was pleasant. The only minor negatives about the venue: 1) they offered no refreshments, only a water fountain with inadequate water flow, 2) I thought the folding seats with thin padding was uncomfortable, but my wife disagreed, and 3) don't park in the parking lot across from the venue or the venue staff will ask you to move it to keep from...
