After searching for a Knoxville postcard I decided to call the Visitors Center. I was asked to send a postcard to a nephew in Dallas, Texas to report a citing of the Gingerbread Man- a kindergarten class project. Relatives were asked to send postcards from all over the world to share the different locations of where the Gingerbread Man had been seen.

I had the most pleasant experience!! The Director of the Visitors Center, Monica went above and beyond to help me!! She helped me choose the perfect card, and personally wrote my card from my dictation and placed it in the mail for me!! I was not able to get to the center before the deadline and Monica made it happen. It’s wonderful to know this type of kindness still exists in our world!! A special, heartfelt THANKS to Monica Armstrong ~ she’s an ideal representative for the city of...

Stopped in Knoxville for the first time last week to grab dinner while passing through. Saw a parking lot with a sandwich board sign that read $2 parking 7AM-7PM and so we parked there assuming it was free after those hours (since most parking lots are) and when we returned from dinner less than an hour later we had two boots on the car. It cost $75 to remove them--which is absolutely absurd. No parking ticket but two boots. The city of Knoxville should find a better way to treat their visitors and residents instead of allowing a scammy parking company (Premier Parking Enforcement) to dissuade people from visiting or...

very friendly polite, knowledgeable staff. Although, I was told that there was little to no construction in Knoxville TN, then when I showed up to the visitor center... there was construction right outside the building. The lady said (we never have construction around here, that's odd!! I ran into nothing but construction in the downtown area!! LOL!! Oh well. she was still knowledgeable and friendly in all other areas!! The Blue Plate Special Performances in the Visitor Center are...

Definitely worth stopping in here if you're exploring downtown Knoxville! They had a small gift shop with a variety of souvenirs, lots of brochures to check out, a map that you can pin where you're visiting from, and they had a small stage where local artists perform. When we stopped in someone was performing and there were a couple people who were sitting there enjoying the music. Looks like the local radio station uses it which I think is a cool use of the space!

This is a MUST noontime M-Th and Sat stop if you're visiting downtown Knoxville. At the corner of Gay St and Summit Hill, the Visitor's Center offers a place to sit and enjoy LIVE on WDVX BLUE PLATE SPECIAL 89.9 radio broadcasting, with Red Hickey hosting. Sometimes two bands, and this day one. Amy Ray and her most excellent band moved us and grooved us for an hour. Red will walk you thru how to be live on the radio. Enjoy!
